Sun Jiadong, China’s top space scientist, is considered as a pioneer in the research of man-made satellites (卫星) and outer space. The engineer has devoted himself to his work for the past sixty years. His work has helped China make great achievements in the space exploration.

In Longyan City, Fujian Province, there is a special self-service vegetable stall (摊位). There are bundles (捆) of fresh vegetables with price tags, but no sellers can be seen.
Over the past 25 years, customers have come to the stall and left money after picking up vegetables. Everyone is honest, and nobody has ever stolen from the stall or left less money.
Every morning, Qiu Meiying puts some vegetables at the stall and then goes to do her farm work. “All the vegetables are planted by nearby villagers. They are pollution-free and less than five yuan per bundle, so they are welcomed very much,” she said. “I never worry about losing my vegetables or money. When I return to the stall in the evening, I can always find just the right money in the empty basket.”
The stall appeared in 1997 as some nearby villagers had surplus (剩余的) home-grown vegetables. They put the vegetables along a street for sale, but they had no time to sell the vegetables themselves. They asked neighboring shop owners to help sell their vegetables. Later, they found that if they priced the vegetables, buyers would leave money without a seller being there. As time went on, more villagers began to join the business. In 2021, the street stall was moved to an indoor market. “Although the location has changed, the traditions of self service and honesty are passed down,” said Qiu.
Now the stall has become a symbol of these good traditions. It is also a great expression of core socialist values (社会主义核心价值观).
