情态动词can除了表示能力、许可和推测之外,还可以表示邀请。

could也可表示邀请,比can更礼貌、更委婉。

Remember: 当你拒绝他人的邀请时,要特别注意礼貌。
通常你要给个理由,说明为什么无法接受邀请, 或者道歉。
当用情态动词can发出邀请时,其回答分为两类。
情态动词might的用法
might是may的过去式,表示推测时,意为“可能”,语气缓和,委婉,可能性低于may。
—Can they go to the movies
—No, they're not. They might have to meet their friends.
表示请求,许可,意为“可以”,语气比may更委婉。

情态动词have to 与must的用法
have to意为“必须,不得不”,后跟动词原形。单数第三人称形式为has to, 过去时形式为had to。其疑问形式和否定形式要借助于助动词do或does来完成。
She has to work at midnight.
I have to finish my homework before 10 p.m.
They had to wait another ten minutes.

must意为“必须”,后跟动词原形。must没有人称和数的变化。
I don’t like these books. I must buy a new one.
She must obey traffic rules.
We must keep quiet in the library.

must用在肯定句中表示较有把握的推测, 意为 “一定”。
—Where is Mary I can't find her anywhere.
—She must be in the library. She loves reading books when she is free.
must引导的一般疑问句,否定回答是needn’t.

must表示主观“必须”; have to表示客观需要,即“不得不”。

1. Inviting(教材P67 3b)
invite 用作动词,意为“邀请”。常见用法有:invite sb. to do sth.
邀请某人做某事; invite sb. to sp.邀请某人去某地。
My best friend invited me to her birthday party.
Yesterday Anna invited me to watch the film.
如:我最好的朋友邀请我参加她的生日聚会。

【拓展】invitation n. 意为“请柬;请帖;邀请” 与invitation相关的短语有:

2. Accepting(教材P67 3b)
二者都含有“收到,接受”的意思。
accept意为“接受”,强调主观接受。
receive意为“收到;接到”,强调客观收到,但并不意味着同意接受。【注意】从搭配上说,在表示“接受教育、受到欢迎、得到支持、接待客人”等时,通常用receive。
根据句意选用accept或receive的适当形式填空。
