Dear editor(编辑),
Once I went to the post office to buy some magazines. When I was ready to leave, someone came nearer to me. I looked up and saw him old and thin, with a dirty coat on. I could see easily that he was a worker. I stood a little farther from him. I was in my new red coat.

Clouds
On a beautiful spring afternoon—relax and lie down
On the soft green grass
Breathing in the fresh smell that I can feel all around
My attention is taken up to the clouds.
For up there in the bright blue sky
Is a fluffy white world of cotton on candy animals
And castles built with marshmallow bricks.
But I must be creative and take the time
To bring this world into focus
So I take a breath
And squint my eyes just a little bit.
And before I know it—there they are—A big bear
Soft as a pillow, quietly curls up to sleep
As a tiny, cotton ball mouse
Jumps out from a lion’s house
What a treat to spend my afternoon
With these newly found friends moving by!

When referring to the epidemic, I think of not only the days when I had to stay at home but also the warmth I got from my neighbors.
With the outbreak of Covid-19 months ago, my parents who both work in a hospital went to fight in the frontline, leaving me alone at home. As a ninth grader, I had been prepared to look after myself, but something unexpected really warmed my heart. The next door lady took me a hot meal every night. The granny upstairs put some milk and fruit at the door, giving me no chance to refuse. An unknown neighbor even reminded me to do nucleic acid tests. Thanks to them, I didn’t feel lonely and helpless at all on those days without family.
Although the epidemic broke many things apart, it brought people closer and taught me how to treat others with kindness and warmth.
