Making a Hard Choice
Over the past two decades, the Mission: Impossible film series has always been connected with Tom Cruise. No matter what happens, he has always been entrusted to be Ethan Hunt, the stubborn and energetic agent who always gives 110 percent to secure the safety of the people in despair, regardless of his own.
Hunt serves as a kind of action hero with great might, but there's an interesting change in Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol (2011) , the fourth movie of the series. In it, he has to leave his beloved wife Julia behind to save the faraway world. Therefore, Hunt faces personal consequences for his heroic acts.
In the latest film, Hunt's dilemma is even bigger than before, when he's forced to make a choice between saving someone he loves or the entire world.
The theme of the“moral dilemma”, in which the hero must choose between two very difficult options (选择), tend to be common in cinema.
Characters like James Bond and Batman often face moral dilemmas of their own. Bond is loyal (忠诚的) to Britain and spares no effort to finish every appointed task, but this often comes at the cost of following the rules. For most people, operation like killing someone even for a good reason isn't acceptable. However, always in tension, Bond has only two choices in front of him: kill his enemies or be killed.
Differing from Bond, however, Batman never kills a single person in film The Dark Knight (2008). There was a heated discussion about whether Batman should kill the Joker, the movie's villain (坏人). To the majority, after all, Batman could have saved many innocent lives by ending the Joker's life. However, he refuses to kill him and break his own moral principle. Indeed, it seems Batman is a different kind of hero—nothing is more important than his own morals.
As is mentioned on the poster for Fallout:“Some missions are not a choice”, which means that with the intention of carrying the world through difficulties, even superhero need to respond fast and make the best choice.

Emily White was born seventeen years ago with so many birth problems in her body. Some of her organs, bones and muscles were out of shape. No one expected her to survive. She did make it but with her strange body figure, everyone could recognize her, even from a distance.
In Emily White's hometown, there was a yearly outdoor performance in the school auditorium (礼堂). It had been performed for so many years and actually had become one of the most important events of the Christmas season for many of the town's people.
Many people tried out each year for it, but so many were turned away. It can only include the most excellent people in the field.
Emily had a beautiful singing voice. Last year she went to Mrs. Owens—her music teacher to ask to join in the performance. Without singing a single note, Emily was sent back through the door of the choral room. Hurt and upset, she decided never to try out again. But Mrs. Owens then retired.
This year, there came a new music teacher, Mr. Buttler. He heard about Emily and suggested that she have a try.
Emily didn't want to be rejected again, so she hesitated a little about it. As Emily struggled, the door was pushed open and Mr. Buttler called, “Emily, you're next.” Although kind of nervous, Emily did as Mr. Buttler told her to do. Mr. Buttler sat by the piano to keep Emily company. When Emily finished her testing performance, she thanked Mr. Buttler and knew the result would be posted on the door of the choral room the next day.
Emily couldn't sleep that night. She was suffering from the feelings that she didn't fit and the great need to be accepted. By the next morning, her stomach was even in pain because of stress.
