Families see Thanksgiving as a time to get together and usually celebrate it with a big family meal. The main dish of this meal is almost always turkey, a large bird. To go with the turkey, people often prepare other things, such as gravy, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin or apple pie.

As a country with a long history, China also has many traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival and so on. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. The Mid-Autumn Festival is enjoyable for Chinese, because it is a time for families to have a family reunion(团圆) by having a big family meal and admiring the full moon together.
