Animals are our friends, we should protect them, to protect them is to protect ourselves.

1. Teaching Important Points:
1) Learn to describe animals and talk about their preferences.
2) Be able to talk about the animals which they like or dislike and the reasons.
2. Teaching Difficult Points:
名词的复数形式表示一类事物;第三人称单数形式
三、教学过程
StepI. Greeting and lead in
1. Greet with students as usual.
2. Lead in.
To show the picture of the kungfu panda, and ask
T: What animal is it
T:Yes, It’s a panda. And pandas are my favorite animals. I think they’re interesting. Do you think so Do you like pandas Why do you like them
Then play a video in kungfu panda, and let the students say out the names of animals.
Then have them to recall the animals they had learned and ask
T: What other animals do you know
StepII. Presentation
1.Play the guessing games:
Listen to the sound of animals and let students guess what animal it is.
T: What animal is it Ss: It’s an elephant. (Then lion, tiger)
Look a part of the animals and ask the students to guess what animal it is.
T: What animals is it Ss: It’s a koala.(Then panda, giraffe)
Ss look at the pictures of animals and read the new words one by one.
3. Turn to page 25 and look at 1a.
Do it together, the teacher point to the picture of animal, students who know it just stand up and speak it out as quickly as possible.
4.Play a game: animals down
Ask one group to come to the front to do it like this:
A: panda down, panda down
After panda tiger down.
B: tiger down, tiger down,
After tiger lion down
C: ...
Give the two winners prizes.
StepIII. Pre-listening
Ask the students to look the picture
Then ask one student to answer the questions.
T:Do you like…
S1: Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
T:Why do/don’t you like them
S1:Because they’re ….
Write ‘Why do/don’t you like … Because they’re ….’ on the Bb, then explain them to the students.
StepIV. Listening
Work on 1b.
Tell Ss to listen to the tape and check the animals they hear in 1a.
Play the recording again and ask them to answer the questions
Then check the answers with the class.
StepV. Pair work
1. Ask the students to imagine “ We are in the zoo, there are many animals here.”
Then ask a student to do the model with the teacher:
— Let’s see the giraffes first.
—Why do you want to see them
—Because they are beautiful.
2. Ss work with their partners, practice the conversation using the animal in 1a and the description words that the teacher gave.
StepVI Group work
Give the students a puzzle of animal to guess
e.g. They’re not very big.
They’re black and white.
They like to eat fish.
They can swim and walk.
They look very funny when they walk.
They’re from the south pole.(南极)
Then ask the students to work in groups to make their own puzzles. Each group describes a kind of animal. Other groups guess.
StepⅦ Summary
Show some pictures about the animals which were losing their homes or dying out . And tell our students the importance of protecting the animals.
