Unit4 Don’t eat in class. (Section B 2a-2c)
I Teaching Aims:
1. Language Knowledge and Abilities:
1) Learn the new words and phrases: dirty, kitchen, more, noisy, relax, read, terrible, feel, remember, luck, be strict with sb and follow the rules.
2) Talk about the family and school rules correctly.
2. Cultural Knowledge:
Know about when western children are in trouble, they are willing to seek professional help.
3. Language Focus:
The focus is to cultivate the students’ reading and speaking skills.
4. Learning Strategies:
Students will cultivate their ability of individual learning and cooperative learning by doing some activities independently and some in groups.
Students will communicate with each other in English during the talk show and show time.
5. Learner Training:
Students’ thinking quality will be improved.
Students will have positive attitude to rules.
6. Anticipated difficulties:
Improve students’ speaking skill.
Help students have positive attitude.
7. Moral Object:
No rules, no standards. Attitude decides everything. Please smile at life.
II Teaching Procedures:
Step1 Enjoy a music album
Ask a question to students: “Do you think I am busy or free every day ”
Then share a music album about my day with the whole class to give the answer. Lead in today’s main topic-rules.
Step2 Talk time
Have a talk show. I am the hostess, students are the guests. Let students talk about their family and school rules freely.
Step3 Learning time
1. Ask students: “When you are unhappy, who do you like to talk to ” Introduce Dr. Know to students. Lead in the main character Molly and her letter.
2. Learn the new words in the letter. Ask some students to read them. See who the best reader is.
3. Present the first letter in 2b. Learn the letter by three ways: fast reading (Read the letter fast, answer two questions.), careful reading (Read the letter carefully, find the rules.), listening and group work (Listen to the letter, work in groups to find the important and difficult phrases in the letter.).
4. Present the second letter in 2b. Design two competitions in this part: listening competition (Listen to the letter, compete to answer the two questions.) and reading competition (Read the letter carefully, compete to find the answers to the four questions with their partners.).
Step4 Story time
Give five pictures to students. Let students try to retell the story about the little mouse using the pictures.
Step5 Exercise time
Do the exercise in 2c, then check the answers.
Step6 Show time
Let students show the happy things in their lives. Then I’ll share my happy things in my life with the whole class by watching a music album.
Say to students: “Although there are many rules around us, there are more happy things in our lives. So please smile at life. Don’t be afraid of rules. Rules help us. No rules, no standards.”
Step7 Promise and harvest time
Let students write the promise letter in groups. Promise what they can do and can’t do at home and school in the future. Then sign their names in the letter.
Ask students to talk about what they have learnt in this class in harvest time.
