Unit 5 Why do you like pandas
Section A (2a-2d)
一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词短语:
scary, kind, kind of, Australia, south, Africa, South Africa, pet, leg, cat, sleep
2) 能掌握以下句型:
① What animals do you/does she/ does he like
② ----Why do/don’t you like it
-----Because they are so/really/very….
③---Where are they from
---They’re from.....
2. 能力目标:
① To observe and describe animals.
② To catch the key information when you’re listening.
③ To know the implied meaning of some animals
2. 情感态度价值观目标:
动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。
二、教学重难点
1. 教学重点:
1) 学会描述动物的性格及他们来自哪里。
2) 学会表达喜欢某类动物及说明喜欢的原因。
2. 教学难点:
名词的复数形式表示一类事物;第三人称单数形式
三、教学过程
Step 1. Warming-up and lead in
To create an English environment and interest students, the teacher ask student to enjoy a movie.
After watching it , teacher asks :
What animals did you see in the movie
What other animals do you know
Then have them to recall the animals they had learned and write them on the blackboard as he/she can.
( e.g. animals---sheep, monkey, cat, dog, mouse, cow, duck… )
Step 2. Presentation
1. Guessing Game
Wow,you know so many animals .You’re really smart.Now, I want to play a game with you It called “Guessing Game”
Look at the pictures that have been covered by something,and ask:
What animal is it
Let’s see the pandas first .They’re so beautiful.
(students learn the new words and phrases so/really/very /sleep all day/kind of/lazy in this part)
2. Look and say.
Look at my pictures and speak out the animals loudly
I like ... best, because they’re very/kind of/really...
3 .A map
Animals are our friends .But do you know where they’re from Please look at my map. And learn the new phrases:Australia ,South Africa,be from.
And then teacher and one student make a conversation like this:
---Where are pandas from
---They’re from China.
After it ,lead students to practice the similar conversations.
4.Listening
1)Many people like animals .So do Julie and John.Let’s listen to a conversation between them and get what animals do they like.
Lead students to read the material and predict what could it be in the blanks.And then tell students Listening strategies
Before listening prediction (听前预测)
While listening get the key information(听中抓关键)
After listening read and check the answers (听后检查)
2)Tell Ss to listen to the tape and check the animals they hear in 1a.
Play the recording again and check the answers with the class.
3)Work on 2a;
T: Listen to the conversation carefully. Then write the names of the animals you hear on these lines.
Play the recording the first time. Students only listen.
Play the recording a second time. This time students write in the names of the animals.
Check the answers.
Point out the adjectives and countries listed on the right. Ask a student to say the words.
Say, Now I will play the recording again. This time draw a line between each animal and the adjective and countries you hear.
Play the recording and have students match each animal with an adjective and a country.
Correct the answers.
4). Work on 2b
T: Listen again and complete the conversation with the words in 2a.
Play the recording for the Ss to listen and write the answers.
Check the answers with the class.
After listening,lead students to say something about Julie and John.
Step 3. Pair work
Winter Olympics of 2022 is coming.What animal will be chosen as a mascot(吉祥物).A repoter is interviewing(采访)you in your school.What animal do you like What animal don't you like Why or why not Please tell him.
Ask students to make a conversation like this:
A: What animals do you like
B: I like the ... .
A: Why do you like the ...
B: Because they are ...
A:Where are they from
B:They're from ...
Ask students to show their conversations
Step 4 Role Play
1) I know what animals you like .Do you want to know what animal I like I like cats very much.I bring a photo of my cat .Look at my photo,she sleeps all day.But she is very smart .She can walk on two legs.Do you like her
2)Jenny and Peter also have pets.Let’s have a look.
3)First ,listen to the tape and repeat .
Next, read the conversation by themselves.
Finally, finish the Mind-map.
Step 5 Group Work
If you want to keep a pet ,what animals will you choose Please discuss it with your partner.The following questions may help you.
1.What animals do you like
2.Why do you like
3.What can she/he do
4.What do you think of her/him
The teacher give an example first.
Ask students to show their ideas.
