一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词: save, symbol, flag, forget, place, water, danger, cut, down, cut down, tree, kill, ivory, over
2) 能掌握以下句型:
① The elephants is one of Thailand's symbols.
② Let's save the Elephants.
3) 通过阅读训练来让学生们逐步提高英语阅读能力。
2. 情感态度价值观目标:
动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。
二、教学重难点
1. 教学重点:
1) 通过阅读短文来了解世界各地一些其他动物的情况,让学生们眼界更宽阔。
2) 通过阅读短文,了解野生动物的生存现状,学会保护动物。
2. 教学难点
1) 进行阅读训练,来培养学生们的综合阅读能力。
三、教学过程
1. Warming- up and revision
1) Greet the Ss as usual.
2) Guessing game. Let some Ss read out their descriptions and let other Ss guess what animal it is.
2. Presentation
1) Show some pictures on the big screen and teach Ss the new words:
save, symbol, flag, forget, place, water, be in great danger, cut down, tree, kill, ivory… .
e.g. Show a picture of a forest, let Ss know that a forest is a place full of trees, and many things are made of trees.
2) Let Ss read aloud the words and expressions.
3) Give Ss some time and read aloud the words together.
3. Before reading
1) Look at the picture, what can Ss see on the picture, and free talk: What do you know about elephants
Lead to the topic: Elephants are in danger
Try to answer these questions:
Why they are in danger
How to save them
4.Reading
1) Fast reading
Read 2b quickly, and check the best title for it.
Ss read the passage quickly and try to find the title and check the answer later.
2) Careful reading
T: Now read paragraph 1 carefully and find the answers to these questions (on the big screen):
① Where are the students from
② What do they want to do
③ Why are elephants important in Thailand
Then read the passage again and find the answers to the questions.
Check the answers with the class.
T: Now read paragraph 2 carefully and find the answers to following questions.
T: Read paragraph 3 carefully and find the answers to following questions.
T: Play a video about elephants.
Elephants are in great danger. How to save them
Ss read the article and find out the answer, and then give their own opinion.
5. Fast reading
1) Ss read the article quickly and find out the topic sentence in each paragraph.
6. Read the article again, and complete the mind map.
1) Ss read the article and fill in the blanks in the map.
2) Check the answers with the Ss.
7. After reading
1) Discuss what other animals are in great danger
2) Watch another video, and discuss how to protect the earth and wild animals
