一、教材分析
本单元主要学习了如何问路和指路。学习材料涉及到公共设施名称及方位介词。本单元分为Section A and Section B两个部分。本课为第二课时,围绕学生在班级的位置,引导学生学习描述公共设施的位置,从而达到教会学生问路和指路的能力的目的。
二、学情分析
由于学生英语能力较弱,大量的听说练习讲有助于提高学生的英语技能。本班大部分的学生具有主动学习的愿望,但在课堂中不能做到积极思考并学习。因此教师应该启发其探究心、培养学习的能力,并给予展现的机会。应该给予较简单的任务,帮助其树立信心,在小组合作的过程中给予指点,注重基础知识的落实。

Step1: Greeting and revision
T: Hello, boys and girls!

Ss: Is there a post office near here
Yes, there is/No, there isn’t
T: Today we’re going to learn Unit8 Is there a post office near here
Step2: Lead-in
T: Is everyone here Ss: Yes
T: Yes But where is CuiBo I can’t find her.
Ss: I’m here/She is there.
T: Oh, she is behind Teng Yushan(write ‘behind’ on the blackboard)
Where’s CuiBo
Ss: She is behind Dong Han.
(Teach the other words in the same way.)

Step3 Practicing
Show Picture 1a to students
T: Let’s look at the first picture. This is Bob’s hometown. Is there a post office in it
S1: Yes, there is
T: Where is the post office
S2: It's next to the pay phone.
T: Look at the picture. Talk about with your partner. Then tell us where they are One ask, one answer.
Step4 Listening
T: I know about Bob’s hometown. How about Tom’s hometown. Let’s listen carefully. Then tell us the map of Tom’s hometown
T: After learning, who can tell me the answer (Ask some students talk about their answers.)

T: This is a map. You should choose a place in this map. Your partners ask questions. You can only say Yes or No. Then they guess the place in your mind. Four people are one group.
