Like cars that run on petrol, your body burns carbohydrates for energy. (Page 17, lines 25-26)
Rhetorical Device
1. What rhetorical device is used in this sentence
2. Why is this sentence better than " Your body needs carbohydrates to provide you with energy''
Like cars that run on petrol, your body burns carbohydrates for energy.” (Page 17, lines 25-26)
Rhetorical Device
The author uses “analogy” in this sentence, in which the human body is compared to a car and carbohydrates are compared to petrol. The human body and the car have some characteristics in common, and so do carbohydrates and the petrol. For example, both the human body and the car need to burn something for energy.
When an analogy is used, an abstract concept is easier to understand.
Discussion
What other information do you think could be included in this guide
Please write a paragraph about 150 words with a heading.
Gaining Willpower and Motivation
First, stick to your plan. You know you can do it. If you have a routine that you follow, it is much easier to stick to than just assuming you will get to exercising or you will get to eating a healthy meal. Then, don't let others bring you down. If you are at the gym and are using small weights, don't let the person next you using giant weights intimidate you.
Example
In addition, see if others want to join you. It can be very helpful if you have someone keeping healthy and fit with you. Their extra push of motivation can be very inspiring and it is a great way to bond. Ultimately, have belief in yourself. Do not care what other people think. If you are determined and believe that you can achieve your goal of staying fit then you can! Motivate yourself by wanting to continue on this path of fitness and health. You want to feel good, you want to look good, you want to be healthy...and you absolutely can!
Homework
Talk with your classmates about your favorite sport and your plan to start/restart to do it on a regular basis.
