Step I. Lead in
1. Show some pictures on the screen.

What’s she doing
Yes, she is making a wish/blowing out the candles in one go.
Then present the new words on the screen and teach the new words.
2.Ask some students when their birthdays are and what they usually do or eat on their birthdays.
Present some phrases to help them
eg: have a birthday party
buy me some new clothes and other gifts
give me some money
go to the Karaoke to sing and dance
eat noodles and eggs
make a big dinner for me
eat a big birthday cake
Step II.presentation
1.OK,we Chinese people do different things on my birthday,but do you want to know what people in other countries do on their birthday Today,we are going to read a passage about people in different countries doing different things on their birthdays. First,let’s listen to the tape and then answer these four questions.
