教材分析:
本课时节选自人教版初中英语新目标八年级下第一单元的Section B中的阅读部分。本课时的中心话题是“登山”，整篇文章由四段组成。文章中有一副爬山的插图。其中，第一段主要交代主人公的背景信息，如国籍、爱好及此项活动的特征等。在第二段中，作者细致描述“一次事故的前因后果”。作者在第三段中讲述主人公在经历这次“登山事故”后的人生历程：写本励志的书讲述自己的人生经历。最后一段，以提问的方式引发读者思考：在你做重要决定或关乎生死决定之前，你会如何思考？
学情分析:
八年级学生在整个初中学习过程中处于进阶阶段，学生有一定的知识积累和学习方法。大多数学生尤其男生，对体育运动这一话题很感兴趣，登山话题可以调动学生学习兴趣。同时，学生在英语阅读过程中会遇见许多常见问题：整篇文章的脉络无法系统把握，构建思维导图的意向不明显等。

Students can get more information they want from the reading by using some reading skills,such as predicting，skimming, scanning and mind-map.

Students can make good decisions when they meet problems and they can be in control of their lives. At the same time, no matter what, never give up.

Step 1 Pre-reading
1、show a short video to let them know the objects of the class.
2、Look at the words and expressions in the list.Write the number(s) next to each word to show what you know.
Step 2 while-reading
1、Predicting ------Ask students to read the title of the passage,and look at the picture, they should make a prediction according to the title and the picture.
