课前导读
The theme of this unit is the protection of wildlife around the world. Students are introduced to the plight of several endangered wildlife species, the reasons for their situation and solutions. Students will hear and discuss facts and opinions, helping them to develop their points of view on this important issue. Students will also learn about creating effective materials, such as posters and letters, to help address and spread awareness of the issues, as well as planning events and actions to help the cause. It is hoped that students can use the information in this unit to reflect upon the situation of wildlife protection and how decisions in their own lives can have a positive effect on solutions to the issue.
Analysis of the Teaching material
This lesson is about wildlife protection. The listening and speaking is about “How to protect endangered wildlife ” Faced with the facts and numbers of wildlife loss, people begin to detect the reasons, then people such as the celebrities (Prince William and Yao Ming) are calling on to protect them. So students are guided to enhance the awareness of protecting wildlife and try to take part in some volunteer activities of protecting wildlife.
Teaching objectives and core accomplishments
1. Predict the content by using visuals.
2. Learn to use the sentences such as “I’m concerned about.... But now they are in danger. I want to know the reasons/why./ What can we do to protect them
3. Learn from the stars like Prince William and Yao Ming and enhance the awareness of protecting wildlife.
4. Guide students to try to put forward the solutions to the problems of wildlife protection and then discuss them with partners and present the results of discussion.
5. Master the pronunciation of stressed syllables.

2. The second poster moves me the most because it is very bad that whole species are being lost, and the image of animals falling through an hourglass shows how serious it is and how time is running out to protect these species.

Activity 3. Listen to the first part and fill in the blanks.

Activity 4.Discuss the question in groups

Through the discussion of the problems, let the students realize that the protection of wild animals needs to start from oneself.
Activity 5:Discuss and role-play(SB, P15, Part 5)
In pairs,discuss the questions,role-play the example,and then talk about one of the animals in the photos below.
(1) What do you know about the animals in the photos
(2) What is being done to help them
EXAMPLE
A:I`m concerned about the African elephants.What do you know about them
B:Well,I know that they are being hunted and their habitat is getting smaller, so they're in danger of extinction.Elephants need large living spaces, so it's difficult for them to adapt to the changes.
A:That's terrible.What measures are being taken to help them
B:The authorities are under pressure to build elephant parks and tell people not to buy elephant products.
Through the discussion,Let the students practice the words and sentence patterns to express the situation of animals in the picture and the coping measures repeatedly with the language they have learned, so as to improve their language application ability.
Activity 5.Pronunciation
1.Work in pairs. Read the words aloud to each other and put them into the correct groups.
2.Check answers with another pair.
3.Listen to the tape and repeat.
