I grew up in a large family of twelve siblings（兄弟姐妹）.We weren’t poor by most standards, but things were definitely tight for us. My parents never shared their financial worries. I never said anything, but my first grade teacher, Mrs. Caruso, must have seen the desire in my eyes. One day she quietly pressed a note into my hand and whispered, “Give this to your mother.”
I skipped home and gave my mom the note. She read it and smiled. “Well, Mrs. Caruso said because of all your hard work, she wants to buy your lunch tomorrow.” The next day, I proudly carried my tray of chicken fricassee across the cafeteria and took my seat at the hot-lunch table. Honestly, the food wasn’t as great as I had imagined, but I was pleased to be there and felt honored to be a part of the group.
One rainy day, Mrs. Caruso asked me to stay after school. My stomach instantly dropped to the floor. Surely, I must be in trouble! Did she know I hadn't finished my math sheet Did she see me teasing Billy on the playground

Thanks to her, I learned that I had just as much night as anyone to sit at the hot-lunch table. I don’t remember what Mrs. Caruso looked like anymore, but I do remember how she made me feel. I’ve never lost that feeling of being important to someone and being protected by her. After all these years, I’m still grateful to that wonderful teacher.

One of the leaders, George, came to me, handed me a small broom and a dustpan, and asked me to sweep the gym. Alone. While the others were chatting and laughing outside. While the gym was dusty and stuffy (不通风的) after weeks of camp and crafts.
I didn’t have a choice. I was sixteen, and George was my elder. I was a staff member at camp, and George was my employer. I put on as cheerful a face as I could and began to sweep the floor of the gymnasium.
Every time I made a decent (合宜的) pile of dust and scraps (残羹剩饭) to push into the dustpan, I had a nice little part of the gym cleared. But I would look up and see the rest of the gym and realize how big the job was. The whole situation felt so unfair.
I wasn’t really happy then. I’m not proud of it, but I was angry as well. I could hear the sounds of people talking, laughing, and generally having a great time outside. There was silence in the gym, except for my sweep, sweep, sweep.
During a break between sweeps, I looked up. George was quietly and matter-of-factly moving the speakers and cleaning the stage at the front of the gym. I noticed he worked alone as well. He didn’t seem particularly excited about what he was doing, but I noted the calmness and joy in his eyes as he went about his work, doing what had to be done because he was there and he was able to do it.

On Thursday, Bessemer City High School held its annual graduation ceremony. Dom Moore was one of the teachers involved in coordinating the event. After the ceremony ended, Dom was cleaning up. Nearly everybody had left to celebrate with friends and family, but one young man was still sitting there by himself. “I knew his moods and I knew he wasn't himself,” Dom said. Not knowing what to say at first, the teacher told him, "I expect big things from you and it's going to be OK.”
Dom assumed that someone would show up eventually to give the graduate a ride home. But nobody did. When Dom offered to drive him, the two had no idea that this was to be more than just a ride home. The teacher decided to take him out to eat-at any restaurant of his choice. They ended up at the Cheesecake Factory, and enjoyed a hearty meal and dessert to celebrate the graduate's achievement.
At first, the two were fighting back tears. But before long, they were having a great time together. Dom never asked why the boy's family did not attend the ceremony. What was important to him was that the young man felt appreciated for what he had accomplished. Later that evening, Dom took to Facebook to share a photo and some thoughts on the event. He says that he doesn't normally post about these situations, as they are all too common in his profession, but that something inside urged him to share this experience.

Because of her, I may lose tonight.” Her mind was wandering when Linda let out a scream, “Oh, God, I can’t find my music tape!” Linda searched her bag but in vain . “It may be missing on the way.” With these words, she then rushed out.

Over next four years, Kyle and I became the best friends. When we were seniors, be had the highest marks in the class and was chose to give a speech at the graduation ceremony. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a lot, and I was so glad it wasn’t me having to get up there and speak.
Graduation day, I saw Kyle and said. “Hey big guy, you’ll be great!” He looked at me with one of those looks, the really grateful one, and said “Thanks,” smiling.
As be started his speech, he cleared his throat and began. “Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give him or her. I am going to tell you a story.

Many years later after the death of the man, their daughter was tidying up all his belongings when she found his diary. In his diary she found that when her parents were on the ship, her mother had already been diagnosed (诊断) with advanced illness and at the critical moment, the father rushed to the only chance of survival.”

Realizing it couldn’t catch Mac any more, the wolf ultimately gave up and walked away gloomily. On spotting the wolf swallowed by the road, Mac, bathed in perspiration, sighed with relief and sank down to the back seat. Paul handed a bottle of water to Mac, who managed a weak smile, murmuring something like “Thank you”.
A few minutes later, the other two cyclists arrived. Knowing that Mac had been chased by a wolf, they were stumped for words and paralyzed with fear.
