Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching material The two diary entries are about Helen and Jim’s school trip to visit a science museum. They went to the same museum, but their feelings were quiet different. The materials are closely related to Ss’ daily life. So it can attract Ss’ interest and it’s easy to understand.
Ⅱ.Analysis of the students Ss of Grade Seven, who have learned English for four years, are curious about school trips. And they have also learned some language points and know how to talk about past events in Section A of Unit 11, so they will be interested in the two diary entries.

Watch the different pictures to learn the new key words and phrases. To learn the new language points in a meaningful context and prepare for the reading.
Step 3.Pre-reading Guide Ss to have a free talk about their last weekend. Ss talk about their last weekend with their teacher and partners. To help Ss get familiar with the reading topic.
Step 4.While-reading ●Helen’s Diary1. Fast reading(1)Encourage Ss to get the key sentence of the diary.(2)Get Ss to circle the acting verbs and underline the adjectives. (3) Check the key sentence and the words Ss circled and underlined. Ss have a fast reading to find the key sentence with the help of the picture in the story. Then try to find the action verbs and adjectives. 1.To have Ss get the main idea and the supporting details of the story. 2.To improve Ss’ reading skills.
2. Intensive reading Pair work. Ask Ss to read more slowly to fill in the blanks. Ss work in pairs and fill in the blanks with different action verbs and adjectives. To help Ss to get the logical order and the structure of the story.
●Jim’s DiaryRead and deal with Jim’s diary in the same way as with Helen’s. Ss read and complete the chart To develop Ss reading skills: how to get the key sentence and the supporting details.
Step 5.
