一、知识点讲解
(一)pay attention to 意为“注意;关注”
pay attention to 意为“注意;关注”,其后接名词、代词活或动名词,其中 attention 是不
可数名词,意为“关注;注意”。
【温馨提示】 短语中 to 为介词,后须接名词、代词或动名词作宾语。
【例题】You should pay attention to (save) water in your daily life.
【答案】saving
【解析】句意:在日常生活中你应该注意节约用水。根据“pay attention to”可知,to 是介
词,pay attention to doing sth.“注意做某事”。故填 saving。
(二)connect vt. 表示”连接”,通常与介词 with, to 连用,有时候可以用连词 and 代
替
connection n. 联系;关联;接通
connect ...with / to... 把…与…连接
例句:A railway connects Beijing and (=with/to) Shanghai.
(三)unless
Unless“如果不;除非”,引导条件状语从句,与 if...not 一样,两者可以互换。
例句:You will fail the exam unless you study hard.=You will fail the exam if you don’t study
hard. 如果你不努力学习,你的考试会不及格的。
【注意】unless 和 if 要用“主将从现”原则。
【例题】Unless he (exercise) more, he will get fatter and fatter.
【答案】exercises
【解析】句意:除非他多运动,否则他会越来越胖。分析句子可知,这是一个由 unless
引导的条件状语从句,主句是一般将来时,从句用一般现在时代替一般将来时,即主将
从现;从句主语 he 是第三人称单数,因此谓语动词 exercise,应使用其第三人称单数形
式 exercises。故填 exercises。
(四)wisely “明智地;聪明地”,由 wise+ly 构成

【注意】bear v.忍受,bear 的过去式是 bore,过去分词是 born。注意不要弄混。

by+v.-ing 结构。意为“通过……,以……的方式”。

interest 作动词,意为“使发生兴趣;引起……的关注”,
作名词,意为“兴趣;关注;爱好”。
interested adj. 意为“对……感兴趣的”。
interesting adj.意为“有趣的”。

用法 例句
find 意为“找到,发现”。既可指经过寻找后得 I have found the lost pen. 我已经找到丢失的笔了。
到或重新获得已失去的东西,强调动作的 At last, I found my dog under my bed. 最终我发现狗在床
结果。既可指偶然地发现、碰到。常用“find 底下。

David: Well, I don’t know how you all feel, but I find English really difficult. There are just so many words to
remember, and the language structures are so difficult to understand. My problem is that I can’t remember all the new
words and I find long passages difficult to understand. I’m so worried. How can I improve my English
Tina: Don’t worry, David. I often use chants, songs and pictures to help me remember new words, and they’re quite
useful. I also check the number of words I can remember each day. Then I’ll test myself again after one or two days.

I’ve been interested in languages for as long as I can remember. My dad was a language
genius(天才). My family traveled widely when I was a child, and my dad would talk to
everyone we met easily. His abilities greatly impressed me. I hoped that I would someday be
able to speak as many languages as he could.
I wasn’t a natural language learner. When I was 11 years old, I made little progress in
French at school and almost gave it up. After I entered college, I read many German writers
in translation. I loved them so much that I wanted to read them in their mother language. This
drove me to pick up German. After I mastered German, I found myself in love with
languages. Since then, I have never stopped learning new languages. By my late twenties, I
was able to speak French, Latin and Greek.
I’m often asked what my secret is. The answer is endless hours of reading and studying.
Before I got married, I would spend 16 hours every day studying languages. I used to like
walking fast outdoors while listening to a recording of language and repeating it out loud.
Now, I can read about 40 languages and speak most of them well. Asian languages are
more difficult to master. It took me almost ten years to get my Korean skills close to native
(母语的)level. I live in Singapore now. At home, I speak French with my sons. If my
Korean wife is there, we’ll use English. When we don’t want the kids to understand our
conversations, we use Korean.
I’ve studied Esperanto(世界语). I think the world will be a less interesting place if
