While you read we will learn some new words and phrases and I will teach you two kinds of reading skills, they are skimming and scanning. After you read, I would like you to give me a report. Step 5 While You Read: Task 1 Skimming
T: What is skimming
S: This means looking quickly through a piece of writing to find the main idea without reading every word. It is still a good idea to read the first sentence in each paragraph a little more carefully.
T: Now let’s practice skimming. Skim the letters and find out the topic sentences, then find out which one agrees and which one disagrees
Task 2 Vocabulary
T: Please find out the sentences from the letters that mean the same thing.
1. Kids don’t need to do chores, because they will have to do it when they grow up.
