Step 1 Warming-up

Ask Ss: Can you give me some advice to relax myself
Do you have any problems in daily life
Step 2 Lead-in
(1) Let Ss enjoy the video “ Growing Pains”
(2) Ask Ss: What’s the matter with the girl
Can you get on well with your parents
Who do you ask for help when you have problems
Step 3 Pre-reading
(1) Ask Ss pay attention to the writers of each letter
(2) Let Ss predict the context of the letters.
Step 4 While-reading
The first letter
(1) Ss read the first letter quickly and answer the questions
(2) Ss read the first letter carefully, then finish the multiple choices
(3) Ss read the letter again to find out Sad and Thirteen’s main problems and fill in the chart
The second letter
(1) Fast-reading: What's the second letter about
(2) Careful-reading: Robert Hunt’s advice
Retell
Let Ss challenge themselves: retell the two letters
Step 5 Post-reading
(1) Discuss: What do you think about Mr. Hunt’s advice Do you agree with him (I agree/ disagree with him because…)
