I. Analysis of the Teaching Materials
The main content of this class is Go for It 7B Unit 11 How was your school trip Section B (students’ book Page 65). The topic of Unit 11 is “School trips”. The status and function is to talk about past events and learn about school trips at home and abroad, and help students to express their feelings by describing different kinds of trips or experiences in the past. The content is close to students’ daily life. And the main task of this class is reading. Students will learn two diary entries about a same trip in this period, and talk about their own past events. And get ready for the next class: writing about trips.
II. Analysis of Students’ Learning Situation
Students of Grade 7 are usually active and full of creative sense. And they have learned about the topic of past events in the last 3 periods. They may have little misunderstanding of the expressions of talking about past events. And the topic of this class has a close relation with their daily life. They may be interested in this class. I’ll help them to develop their speaking, reading and writing skills through the activities in this class.
III. Teaching Aims and Demands
After this period, students will be able to
1. Master the description words and the simple past tense by talking about past events.
2. Improve their reading skill by skimming for the main sentences and scanning for some details (Helen’s and Jim’s opinions about the same trip.)
3. Know that Different people have different ideas about the same thing. We should learn to be sympathy and think differently by talking about the two diary entries.

VI. Teaching Procedures
Step1. Lead-in
1. Greetings.
2. Revision. Let’s talk. Show some pictures on the screen. Revise the simple past tense by asking and answering.
3. Free talk. Lead to talk about past events by asking “How was your last weekend What did you do ”
Purpose:To practice the target language learned before and prepare for the next step.
Step2. Presentation
1. Lead to 2a. Students read the description words together, and judge them, put a √ for good and an × for bad. Leave a blank if they can mean both.
2. Invite some students to share their answers.
3. Encourage students to make some sentences with some of the words.
Purpose:Pre-Reading tasks. To help students understand the usage of the description words and use them to express their feelings about some things, get ready for the reading, and have a preliminary achievement of Aim 3.
Step3 Reading
1. Scanning. Students scan the text as quickly as possible and answer the two questions Did Helen and Jim go on the same trip How do they feel about the trip Check the answers together.
2. Listening and reading. Students read after the recording, then read the text by themselves.
3. Explanation. Explain some language points to help students to understand the text better. Then students can do Task 1: translate some sentences into English.
4. Task 2. Read the diaries and answer the questions. Read the diaries and answer the questions

On June 15th.
2). What did they do on the school trip
They visited the museum.
3). How did they go on the school trip
By train.
4). What did Helen do in the museum
She learned a lot about robots, took photos and bought some lovely gifts for her parents.
5). Did Jim take any photos Why or why not
No, he didn't. Because the rooms were really dark.
6). Why didn’t Jim buy any gifts
Because he thought the gifts were too expensive.
5. Task 3. Read the diaries again and complete the chart. How do Helen and Jim describe these things Check the answers together.
Purpose:While-reading tasks. Help students to get the main idea through listening and reading. Students can understand the text in details by scanning, translating sentences, answering questions and completing the chart. At the same time, help them to understand the meaning of replace-thinking. Achieve Aims 1 & 2.
Step4 Consolidation
1. Task 4. Find out the phrases in the text.
2. Task 5. Use the correct forms to fill in the blanks.
3. Task 6. Think and write a short passage about your last weekend. Use the questions to guide you. How was your last weekend Where did you go What did you do Pay attention to the simple past tense.
Purpose:Post-reading tasks. Help students to consolidate the target language and get ready for writing. They may learn to develop healthy eating habits. Achieve the teaching Aims and overcome the teaching key and difficult points .
Step5 Summary
Sum up the main points of this class, and focus on: “Different people may have different ideas about the same ting. We should learn to think differently.”
Purpose:To sum up the main points of this period and achieve the moral aim of this period.
