I had always thought of my dad as a magician. With his pen, he brought my childhood friends to life and developed brave characters. It wasn’t long before he put a pen into my hands and told me to create my own stories. The world was a big place, but my dad made it bigger. That was until the magician himself was defeated.
Cancer caught up with him and soon the world’s mightiest hero had to take a break. My world of imagination was on the verge of collapsing(崩溃) as I watched my dad’s bright energy fade away. I refused to take any of it. It was too soon and too sudden.
The truth could not be ignored when one morning, my mother had to break the news. My dad had only three months to live. That day, I could not bring myself to go to my first class. It was at that moment that I felt the world my dad had built was destroyed. I put my pen down and never picked it up.
Until one day, my dad sat me down. I was afraid of having to talk to him. I couldn’t bear looking him in the eye. What was possibly there to say to a dying man But what he said was not what I expected. "Nu Nu," he started, calling me by my nickname, "I want to start a new project." Then he began talking to me about his plan to write a new story and publish it online. Filling me in on his story, the characters, and this whole new world he had just recently thought up, he turned to me and asked, "Will you help me " Without a pause, I said yes.
You see, my dad was on the brink(边缘) of death, if I may be so honest. But that did not stop him. And it should not stop me either. That night, I took out my notebook and picked up my pen once more.

TikTok has pushed a new safety update to its app that allows parents to take more control of their teenager’s accounts, as social media companies come under increasing pressure to make their platforms safer for children.
The company said that its Family Pairing now enables parents to turn off comments on their children’s videos entirely or limit them to friends only. Parents whose accounts are linked to their kids will also be able to set their accounts to private ones, turn off the search function for content or users, and limit who can see which videos their children have liked.
The Family Pairing lets parents see how long their children are spending on TikTok each day and limit the content they can see.
TikTok allows children to register(注册) and create an account if they’re over the age of 13.All they need to do is provide their date of birth. However, because TikTok doesn’t require registrants(注册人) to prove their identities, some children under 13 have registered by lying about their age, according to U.K. regulator Ofcom(英国通信管理局).
Alexandra Evans, head of child safety public policy for TikTok in Europe, told CNBC that Family Pairing has "put itself in parents’ shoes" since it was launched. "If we’re thinking of it as a toolbox, we want to offer more tools," she said on a video call ahead of the announcement.

Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher.
If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important. With any relationship, you need to let the other persons know how you feel. If you are not able to communicate, you and others may drift apart(逐渐疏远). When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve anything.
Communication begins with the concern for another. It means that you can’t just come home from school, go to your room and ignore everyone. Even if you just say "Hi" and see how their day is for five minutes, it is better than doing nothing.
If you look up the word "communication" in a dictionary, it will say "the activity or process of expressing ideas and feelings or of giving people information". To keep a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it’s just by writing a note.
When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you’ll listen to what they want to say, and ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the situation worse.
This is an example: one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn’t feel she could just ask to go home. That would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, but when Sophie explained why she was late, they weren’t as mad and let the incident munication was the key factor here. If Sophie’s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.
Communication isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, tell the other persons how you feel — listening is the key factor in communication.
32.In the writer’s view, dealing with parents is than with children.
A. more difficult
B. easier
C. more boring
D. more interesting
33.What’s the main idea of the second paragraph
A. The importance of friendship.
B. The way to make your feelings known to others.
C. The importance of communication.
D. The disagreement between generations.
34.What does the example in this passage prove
A. Sophie is very polite to her parents.
B. Sophie’s parents are not willing to listen to her.
C. Explanation is the best way to solve a problem.
D. Communication is the best way to avoid misunderstanding.
35.According to the passage, which of the following does the author disagree with
A. If you don’t agree with others, you’d better let them know.
B. It is better to say "Hi" to others than to say nothing.
C. If you are not able to communicate, walk away.
D. Communication is a two-way deal.
Research shows that playful teasing(取笑) between parents and their children can be a way to strengthen relationships, bring up difficult topics, and just have fun. 36. Carol Bishop says, "You need to recognize if they are enjoying it."
There are also rules about what is okay and not okay to tease your child about. 37. Instead, tease kids about safe topics, like a messy room, or things that can be easily changed.
Teasing should also be a two-way process. 38. If they go too far in making fun of you, be sure not to blow up. Instead, help them to learn what may hurt others.
Teasing about a disappointing grade should only be used as a gentle reminder of studying or doing homework. It shouldn’t be focused on the ability because that could make the situation worse. It’s not wrong to say to your child, "I’m disappointed that you got a C." 39. You need to examine if there is a learning disability or maybe they are in low spirits or being bullied(欺侮).
From monsters under the bed to darkness and noises, fears that may seem silly to adults may be very real to children. 40. In fact, it could make them worse. Teasing children who are frightened of something is not a way for them to expand their horizons — you need to make them feel secure.
A. Kids often feel hurt when teased by others.
B. Topics like appearance and weight are prohibited.
C. Laughing or teasing won’t help them overcome their fears.
D. But then you must work with them to figure out the cause.
E. But parents need to recognize when teasing becomes hurtful.
F. You have to be willing to let your kids tease you about something.
G. Teasing a child about sports performance can cause a child to quit the sport.

I handed the card from my school’s help-wanted board to the man behind the counter of Mort’s Deli(熟食店). Even before I opened my mouth, he was shaking his head.
It was September 1957, and my family had just arrived in California. My father only got work two or three days a week. Our poor savings were gone, and as the eldest boy of the family, I was the only one able to help.
"Let me work the rest of the week, and if you don’t like the way I do the job, don’t pay me," I said. The tall man stared at me, and then nodded, "I’m Mort Robin. What’s your name "
At Mort’s, I worked very hard. Near the end of the day he called me up to him. "How much did that card at school say this job paid " he asked. "One dollar an hour," I said in a low voice. Actually I was willing to take less.
"That’s not enough for someone who works as hard as you," Mort said. "You start at 1.25." Over the next few weeks, I learned a lot about Mort. A few years older than my dad, he was from Chicago and had a daughter at my age. When business was slow, he often shared stories about his army days. Our store was closed on Sundays, so every Saturday evening Mort urged me to take home the leftover soup. It was a meal in itself, a treat for my struggling family.
One Saturday after work, I was about to step in my house when I saw a large bald man in my father’s chair. He was shouting at my father. I quietly walked into the kitchen and listened through the door. The man wanted to take our car. I had been in Los Angeles just long enough to understand how extremely important and necessary a car was. Dad offered to make the three payments that were due(应给的), but the man demanded the entire sum — $325, or the car.
I slipped out of the door, thinking: Who might have $325 Who would even consider lending me so much money

The Happy Ranch Horse Farm organizes horse rides through...markets"可知,在骑马活动中孩子们能看到乡村生活。故选A。
Several restaurants offer classes, which start with a visit to a market to buy fresh ingredients 故选A。
There are plenty of things to do and see that children will enjoy"以及下文中几个活动的介绍可知,文章可能和旅游有关,故文章可能出现在杂志的旅游部分。
故选A。
故选A。
However, because TikTok doesn’t... some children under 13 have registered by lying about their age"可推知,英国通信管理局对于TikTok不能严格核查用户身份感到担忧。
If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important" 可知,作者认为沟通是非常重要的。
Carol Bishop says, ‘You need to recognize if they are enjoying it’"可知,家长可以和孩子开玩笑,但是也要认识到孩子是否乐在其中。
Teasing should also be a two-way process"可知,开玩笑应当是个你来我往的过程,再结合选项可知,F项"你得愿意让你的孩子拿某些事情取笑你"承接上文,故选F。
You need to examine if there is a learning disability or maybe they are in low spirits or being bullied(欺侮)"可知,当孩子考试成绩不理想时,家长需要找出问题的原因。

My parents both show me how to live as a good learner and teach me how to love"可知,作者的父母向作者展示了如何做一个善于学习的人并教会他如何去爱,因此作者决心也要成为一个这样的老师。

故填to。

65.will turn
Good morning, everyone! My topic today is "Getting along with others".
Establishing a good relationship with others is important for us. We can get help, support and encouragement from others.
When it comes to getting along with others, I think we are supposed to be friendly and honest when making friends. Besides, we should be considerate, which means we should put ourselves in others’ shoes. Last of all, why I take part in this competition is that I hope everyone can get along with others. Only in this way can we live a more happy and enjoyable life.
That’s all. Thanks for your listening.
One possible version
Paragraph 1:
The only person I could think of was Mort. Without hesitation I headed for the store, knocked at the door and waited anxiously. After a while, the door opened and there stood Mort, confused. Before he could ask me anything, I poured out what my family was facing. "So, could you possibly lend my father $325 " I could feel my face hot. Beyond my expectation, he turned around, returned with $325 in an envelope and handed it to me, saying "I’ll take back half of your wages until it’s repaid." "Thank you," I said in a trembling voice, trying to fight back my tears. Then I hurried back home.
Paragraph 2:
I calmly handed the man the money. That night I was a hero to my family. But the real hero was Mort Robin, who not only helped my family out but also silently raised my salary every month. By summer, I was earning $2.50 an hour, which doubled the original wage. Finally, I paid off the debt. It was Mr. Robin who made the world a better place for me.
