One Sunday, Nicholas, a teenager, went skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. In the early afternoon, when he was planning to go home, a fierce snowstorm swept the area. Unable to see far, he accidentally turned off the path. Before he knew it, Nicholas was lost, all alone! He didn’t have food, water or a phone. He was getting colder by the minute.
Nicholas had no idea where he was. He tried not to panic. He thought about all the survival shows he had watched on TV. It was time to put the tips he had learned to use.
He decided to stop skiing. There would be a better chance of someone finding him if he stayed put. The first thing he did was to seek shelter from the freezing wind and snow. If he didn’t, his body temperature would get very low, which could quickly kill him. Using his skis, Nicholas built a snow cave. He gathered a huge mass of snow and dug a hole in the middle. Then he piled branches on top of himself, like a blanket, to stay as warm as he could.
By that evening, Nicholas was really hungry. He ate snow and drank water from a nearby stream so that his body wouldn’t lose too much water. Not knowing how much longer he could last, Nicholas huddled (蜷缩) in his cave and slept.
The next day, Nicholas went out to look for help, but he couldn’t find anyone. He had to follow his tracks and return to the snow cave. On Tuesday, Nicholas went out again to seek help. He had walked for about a mile when a volunteer searcher found him. Having been stuck in the snow for two days, Nicholas was saved.
Had it not been for TV, Nicholas might not have survived this snowstorm. He had often watched Bear Grylls’ survival show Man vs.Wild. That’s where he learned the tips that saved his life. When Bear heard about Nicholas’ amazing deeds, he was super impressed that Nicholas had made it since he knew better than anyone how hard Nicholas had to work to stay alive.

The English spoken in Australia, Britain and America has a surprising number of differences. Here are some of the common differences that you will find among these three kinds of English.
Pronunciation among the three types of English can be different. In American English, the "r" at the end of a word almost always affects its pronunciation, while in Australian and British English, the "r" is often silent. Australian English is unique due to the fact that many words have sounds that are gone. Instead of saying"good day",Australian speakers say "g’ day". The main pronunciation difference among the three, however, is the pronunciation of the vowel (元音) sounds.
Not only do the three types of English sound different, but they are also spelled differently. In some ways, the spelling shows the difference in pronunciation. For example, Americans use the word "airplane". In Britain, the word is "aeroplane", and it is pronounced with an "o" sound. Another example is the word "aluminium", which is the UK spelling, and "aluminum" is the US spelling. Can you find the difference In this example, the Australian spelling is the same as the UK spelling.
Another common spelling difference between British English and American English is the use of -our or -or at the end of a word. For example, in the UK, colour, flavour, honour are words that all end with -our. In America, they are spelled with the -or ending. In Australia, the -our spelling is almost universal.
Also, the endings -re and -er are different between different English dialects. In America, you will go to the theater or fitness center, while in Britain you will visit the theatre or fitness centre. Again, Australian English follows the British way.
28.What does the main pronunciation difference between American English and British English lie in
A. The sound of "r" at the end of a word.
B. The words with sounds that are gone.
C. The vowel sounds of some words.
D. The last sound of a word.
29.Which of the following words belongs to the Australian spelling
A. Airplane. B. Flavor.
C. Theater. D. Aluminium.
30.What can we know about Australian English
A. It has become the most popular English now.
B. It is more difficult to learn than American English.
C. It follows the American way more than the British way.
D. It follows the British way more than the American way.
31.What’s the author’s purpose in writing this text
A. To show that English has developed differently in different countries.
B. To tell the differences among American, British and Australian English.
C. To encourage us to explore the differences of English used in different countries.
D. To suggest we speak different English when we are chatting with people from different countries.
D
Daniel B gre Udell, who speaks four languages, met Frederico Andrade, who speaks five, at the Parsons of The New School in New York City. In 2014, they started a project to make the first public record of every language in the world. That’s Wikitongues. They’ve already recorded more than 350 languages, and plan to hit 1,000 in the coming years.
"When humanity loses a language, we also lose the possibility of greater diversity (多样化) in art, music, literature and oral traditions," said B gre Udell. Between 1950 and 2010, 230 languages disappeared(消失). Today, a third of the world’s languages have fewer than 1,000 speakers left. Every two weeks a language dies with its last speaker, and 50 to 90 percent of them are said to disappear by the next century.
Wikitongues has asked volunteers in 40 countries to film native speakers talking in the past, present, and future tenses of their first language. Native speakers are asked to think back to their childhood, share their stories, and discuss their hopes and goals. One volunteer in the South Pacific islands of Vanuatu recorded a language that had never been studied by language experts before. Another volunteer found a speaker of Ainu, a language in Japan that has no relation to any other known language, and he also recorded it. However, priceless recording opportunities disappear regularly. Not long ago, one of the last two speakers of a Sami language in Russia died right before his recording session with Wikitongues.
Political persecution(迫害), a lack of protection and globalization are responsible for diminishing language diversity. For much of the 20th century, governments across the world forced natives to use official languages. Some 100 native languages in Australia have disappeared since European settlers arrived. However, most languages die today because of other reasons; climate change and urbanization are all important factors in the disappearance of languages.
32.What do Daniel B gre Udell and Frederico Andrade want to do together
A. Test people’s language levels.
B. Offer language courses to people.
C. Find out the reasons for language loss.
D. Record all the languages in the world.
33.What does the author point out in Paragraph 2
A. The problem of language loss is very serious.
B. Few people are worried about language loss.
C. Language loss makes it difficult for people to communicate.
D. Some countries fail to slow down the process of language loss.
34.How do volunteers help protect languages
A. By writing down native speakers’ stories.
B. By learning languages from native speakers.
C. By improving the living conditions of native speakers.
D. By videoing native speakers talking in their first language.
35.What does the underlined word "diminishing" in Paragraph 4 probably mean

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
When you hear the word "vacation", what comes to mind For most it means having fun, pampering(纵容) themselves to some degree or simply relaxing and catching up on sleep. Most people consider it a time to relax and recharge away from work and the stress of life. However, the reality for some is that they end up feeling even more stressed and exhausted than they did before they went on vacation. How is this possible
A common misconception that people have about going on vacation is that they need to make the most out of their trip. Before they go on every tour they can research 101 places to visit and then pack 98 of those suggestions along their trip. While making the most of your time away, most people over-pack their schedule and overwhelm(压垮) themselves with too many things which result in more stress and less rest.
Today, technology and social media have over-promoted and normalized sharing every experience we have — especially while we are on vacation. The saying "If you didn’t post it, did it really happen " drives our current culture of documenting and sharing EVERYTHING. Also you may spend more time taking the perfect selfie(自拍) at every stop than you do actually participating in the activity. You end up sacrificing the quality of the trip for the quantity of posts you get out of the trip.
To better appreciate your vacation time, you’d better give yourself one day to recover before returning to work after a vacation. This allows your body and mind to adjust to being back home and getting back into your work routine. You want to go on vacation to recharge, so don’t overcrowd your schedule with late night or early morning activities. Make sure you rest and get plenty of sleep. It’s okay to schedule a lazy day during your vacation when you can sleep. However, don’t overdo it. Try to fit in the minimum recommended amount of daily exercise and if you don’t exercise take this as an opportunity to start a new habit.

63.listens 考查时态和主谓一致。分析句子结构可知,空处为谓语动词,此处表示一个习惯的动作,因此用一般现在时,且主语He为第三人称单数,谓语动词也要用单数。故填listens。
64.It 考查固定句型。此处为固定句型"It takes/took sb. some time to do sth.",表示"花费某人多长时间去做某事",注意句首字母需大写。故填It。
65.confidence 考查名词。分析句子结构可知,空处应用名词。have confidence in sb."对某人有信心",为固定用法。
第四部分 写作
第一节范文
Dear Mr. Brown,
I’m Li Hua, an exchange student from China. Sometimes I find it difficult to make myself understood by others, so I’m writing to ask for your advice.
One day, when we were doing some reading, our class teacher told us that we would visit Harvard University the next day. I was so happy that I said, "That’s all I want to hear." Hearing that, all my classmates looked at me in amazement, which made me embarrassed. It was later that I knew what I said was an expression of impatience. I would appreciate it if you could give me some suggestions on how to avoid misunderstandings of this kind.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours truly,
Li Hua
第二节范文
Some people don’t get their desired results and suffer from stress and tiredness after returning from their vacations. Firstly, that people should take full advantage of the vacation is a misunderstanding. Secondly, technology and social media have contributed to people’s sharing their travelling experiences, which leads to low quality of their trips. To solve these problems they’d better come home a day early to get adjusted and achieve a balance between resting and exercising.
