Life is full of beautiful moments. All you have to do is to open your eyes and your heart to see them.
The other day, a local primary school was just over, and I found myself behind a school bus as I was driving home. The bus stopped by a house sitting on top of a hill. A little girl, no more than 7 years old, got off the bus and started running quickly toward the house. The smile on her face was quite sweet. I looked up the hill to see where she was going. Her dad was waiting for her. As she got closer, her dad smiled and greeted her with a hug.
My eyes watered a bit as I watched this scene. I remembered all the times when my own children ran into my arms with smiling faces. Every single hug from them was a treasure of joy.
Suddenly, my memory was interrupted when I heard the car’s horn (喇叭) behind me. I saw the school bus quickly pulling away, and started to follow it again. However, this time I did so with a fuller heart than ever before. I took that beautiful moment and stored it safely in my mind, where I knew it would remain forever.
One day, we all will leave this school of learning and love, and finally get to go home again. So enjoy your days here at school. Love and learn. But know that one day you will be going home where the hugs are eternal(永久的) and the love never ends.

③At that time I thought of something sweet about my own children.
④A little girl ran to a house on a hill where her dad was waiting.
A.①②④③ B.④①②③ C.①④③② D.②①③④

“I’ve actually never lost anyone, thank goodness. I was not a friendly 15-year-old girl. I didn’t get on well with others at times.”
Imagine you are a 15-year-old girl who seems never as good as your dead elder sister.
This is Julia’s situation at the beginning of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter. It is a book which is written by Erika L.Sanchez. But things change quickly. Julia’s sister, Olga, is killed in a traffic accident. Her mother is heartbroken and so is Julia. Olga becomes prefect after her death. Their mother continuously compares Julia to prefect Olga, who now can do nothing wrong.
You expect that you’ll feel sorry for Julia, but Sanchez tries hard to make her unlikable. This is unexpected for a young-adult book. Sanchez has written a character who the reader might not want to be friends with. As Julia herself says at one point, I do dislike most people and most things.” She especially dislikes Mexican-American culture. She doesn’t care very much for her best friend” Lorena.
Then we learn that Olga wasn’t the perfect girl although her family thought she was. Julia finds out that her sister had a secret life. The book is funny and smart, which helped get it nominated (提名 ) for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. It also has a point to make about fixed opinions and expectations. Non-Mexican-Americans have ideas about Mexican-Americans, but Mexican-Americans also have ideas about each other.
In this story, we see how the perfect Mexican daughter is expected to act, but you’ll see that maybe there’s no such thing as perfection.
41.What is Julia like in the book
A.Shy. B.Serious. C.Poor. D.Unfriendly.
42.How does Julia feel after Olga dies
A.Sad. B.Excited. C.Happy. D.Strange.
43.What do we know about Julia after her sister dies
A.She is afraid of cars. B.She dislikes most people.
C.She can do nothing wrong. D.She cares more for her mom.
44.What is special about the book
A.It pays attention to family. B.The main star is an unlikable girl.
C.Readers feel sorry for Julia. D.Julia hates Mexican-American culture.
45.What can we learn from this book
A.We shouldn’t expect perfection. B.People should perfect themselves.
C.You can have cultural differences. D.Everyone has their own secret life.

Cao Chong weighs an elephant
The Chinese people have told this story for many years. It is a story about Cao Cao’s son, a clever boy named Cao Chong.
One day, Sun Quan sent Cao Cao a huge elephant. Cao Cao was quite pleased and wanted to know its weight. However, no one knew how to solve this problem. Just then, Cao Chong, Cao Cao’s little son, got an idea. He asked some soldiers to lead the elephant onto a boat. The boat went lower into the water when the elephant walked onto it. He drew a line on the side of the boat to mark how low it went. Then Cao Chong let the soldiers take the elephant off the boat and fill the boats with rocks until water reached the line on the boat. Then Cao Chong weighed the rocks which were added into the boat. That was the weight of the elephant. Everyone considered Cao Chong a genius.
From this story, we know that when we face difficult problems, we shouldn’t give up and deal with them from another view.
