Dear Sir or Madam,
Thanks for designing an app for English writing. I’d like to share my ideas here. Could its name be “Writing Made Easy”
Many of us have difficulty in writing. We don’t know how to organize ideas, use proper words and so on. I hope it can solve these problems.
Here is my advice on what the app does. First, it should provide some reading materials. The more we read, the better we write. Second, the app should have an on-line course so that we can develop our writing skills. Third, there should be an e-teacher who can correct mistakes and offer suggestions. I hope my advice is worth taking.
Yours,

Most social media apps and websites have a common theme — people can comment on posts or hit a button to like them. Yet some people are worried that social media can lead to stress and anxiety among its users, putting pressure on people to achieve a high number of likes in their posts. As a result, some apps allow people to hide the numbers of likes. It’s thought this could make users less upset if they no longer compare these likes they’ve received with other people’s. So is this a welcome change
Yes — it will make things better Studies have shown that people can think negatively (消极地) about themselves if their social media posts don’t get enough positive attention, especially if their friends are filled with likes. Getting rid of this system will reduce stress, and may even encourage people to enjoy life away from social media. Besides, these likes are usually about how good something or someone looks. There are more important things to be celebrated.
No — it’s a silly idea It’s difficult to see how this will stop people from feeling bad about themselves on social media. They will still be able to see how many likes they have received. Although they won’t be able to compare this to other people’s, they can compare the number of comments or shares. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with people feeling good about the number of likes they’ve received. It can be a nice help to someone’s confidence. For some people, it also helps them earn money or gain chances if other people can see how well they’re doing.
24. Why do some apps let users hide the numbers of likes they receive
A. Other users comment something bad.
B. These likes make their users feel upset.
C. They don’t have a common theme.
D. Their users ask them to do so.
25. What advantage of this act is mentioned in the text
A. Getting enough attention. B. Thinking positively.
C. Reducing stress. D. Improving confidence.
26. What would be the best title for the text
A. Should social media apps get rid of likes
B. Will social media apps do harm to people
C. Why do people use social media apps
D. Do you want to show off on social media apps

Mum, I love you so much!
It was Mother’s Day. John was so busy with his work that he couldn’t go back home. When he passed by a flower shop in the evening, an idea came to his mind, “I’ll send Mum some roses.” While John was picking his flowers, a young man went inside. “How many roses can I get for only five dollars, madam ” he asked. The assistant (店员) was trying to tell him roses were as expensive as forty dollars a dozen (一打). Maybe he would be happy with carnations (康乃馨).
“No, I have to have red roses,” he said. “My mum was badly ill last year and I didn’t get to spend much time with her. Now I want to get something special. It has to be roses as the rose is her favourite.”
After hearing it, John said he would pay the rest of the money for the young man. Moved by both of them, the assistant said, “What lovely young men, thirty dollars a dozen, only for you.” Taking the roses, the young man almost jumped into the air and ran out of the shop. It was well worth twenty-five dollars that John paid to see the exciting moment. Then John paid for his dozen of roses and told the assistant to send them to his mother.
As he walked out, he felt nice. Suddenly he saw the young man crossing the street and going into a park. But soon John realized it was not a park but a cemetery (墓地). Crying, the young man carefully put down the roses, “Mum, oh, Mum, why didn’t I tell you how much I loved you God, please help me find my mum and tell her I love her.”

Cars bring us much convenience, but they also bring us problems, like traffic jam and accidents. Different countries have different rules for drivers to obey, but it seems that more things need to be done.
“Malaysia will put more eyes on the road to see drivers who use their hand phones while driving.” Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said.
Datuk Seri Liow said the Road Transport Department would punish drivers for not obeying the rule.
The policemen and two types of cameras—static and mobile—would be placed, and those who are caught red-handed would be faced with a $30 fine (罚款).
“We stop drivers from using their hand phones on the road. We have given them a lot of advice, yet there are many who still do so. Focus on the road and not your hand phones when you are driving.” he said.
He told reporters strict action was necessary to reduce the number of accidents caused by using hand phones while driving. He added that using navigation (导航) apps such as Waze was permitted, but the mobile phone should be put on a phone holder.
“Drivers who are against the rule will face revocation (吊销) of their driving licences if they are caught.”
“The accident rates are very high. There were 5,310 fatalities from January to September this year while for the whole of last year, there were 7,152 deaths,” he said.“We want to reduce the figures by 10 percent every year and it is really challenging.”
