VI. Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Warm-up
1. Greetings
2. Revision
1)Revise the students’ spelling by showing the ”English--Chinese”&” Chinese -- English” on the screen.
Ask the students to finish the exercises in two minutes. Then exchange their papers to see who does the best.
2)Revise the sentences that contain the Present Perfect Tense .
Have a competition, First, show the sentences on the screen for the students to remember them in 10 secends (Task 1).
Then ,show the sentences again with some blanks .Have the students give the missing words (Task 2).
Check the answers by asking the students one by one.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Grammar Focus
Show the grammar box on the screen.
Ask the students to read the questions and answers together .Then ask them what they learn from the box. Write the Present Perfect Tense on the blackboard.
2.Explaination
1)The definition of the Present Perfect Tense.
Show it on the screen.
Step 3 Reading (2b)
2)The structure of the Present Perfect Tense.
Show it on the screen and write “have/has + p.p.” on the blackboard.
3)The rules to make past participles.
Show the following on the screen
A. Regular Verbs .
.
B. Irregular Verbs .
B. Irregular Verbs .
4)The signal words of the Present Perfect Tense.
Write already and yet on the blackboard and show them on the screen.
Step 3. Practice
1. Teach 4a
First lead the students to have a look at the instruction . Ask them to read the sample sentences, pay attention to the tense.
Then, give them several minutes to finish the other four sentences using the given words like this. They need to finish this work individually.
Later, invite some students to read their complete sentences to check the answers.
2. Teach 4b
Tell the students that the following passage is about Sally. They need to read and complete it with the correct forms of the given words, pay attention to the tense.
Give them several minutes to do this work individually.
Finally, check the answers together. Ask the students to practice retelling the story to each other.
Step 4. Consolidation
1. Teach 4c
Ask the students to have a quick look at the sample conversation first, then let them work in pairs to talk about the books they read .
Give them several minutes to do this task (If time is not allowed, leave it for homework)
Later, invite some pairs to act out for the whole class.
2. Do some exercises on the screen(Choose the best answers).
