Denton police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South Elm Street after a call about a fight at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The officers met with a husband and a wife in a parking lot who said a man had pulled a gun on them, according to a police report. They said the man fired a round as he was leaving. On January 31, 1978, three boys were skating in Montvale, New Jersey, when they saw a flying object over their heads. It stayed for nearly five minutes, and the boys got a good look at the object. It was square with round corners. And there was a yellow light at each corner.
Before they could discuss what had happened, they noticed a man in a yellow suit crossing the road from the field. Michael, one of the boys, thought he was a neighbour who often walked in the evening. “Mr Johnson,” Michael called to the man, “did you see that UFO ” Immediately(立刻) the man turned toward the boys, and he was not Mr Johnson. He looked more like a hawk than a man. Then, before he could answer, ten other creatures, all in yellow suits, joined him. Each one had large, dark, square holes where his eyes should have been.
The boys noticed another person—a woman, they believed. She was wearing a short dress and walking down the road. As she got farther away, something even stranger happened. “Parts of her body,” the three boys later reported, “kept going away and coming back again.” Finally the woman walked through the wall of a building and disappeared completely.
The boys had paid so much attention to the woman that they did not see what had happened to the creatures in the yellow suits before they disappeared.

That morning, we noticed a cab following Sir Henry and Dr Mortimer in London. But who
We went to Sir Henry’s hotel. Holmes asked Dr Mortimer if anyone with a black beard lived in or near Baskerville Hall.
“Yes,” said Dr Mortimer, “Barrymore.”
“We must send a telegram to check whether Barrymore is in London or at Baskerville Hall,” said Holmes.
Sir Henry said he wanted to go to Baskerville Hall.
“OK,” said Holmes.“But you mustn’t go alone. Watson can go with you.”
Sir Henry and I agreed to take the 10:30 train on Saturday.
Holmes thought deeply on the way home: the story of the Hound, Sir Charles’s death, the strange letter, the missing boot and the black-bearded man. He sat in his room all afternoon, smoking and thinking.
Just before dinner, a telegram arrived. It said,“Barrymore is at Baskerville Hall.”
“That becomes a dead end, Watson. We will have to look for another way to go forward.”
Just then the door bell rang. It was the cab driver who drove the man with the black beard.“I got a message that you are asking for me,” he said.“I’ve never had a complaint. I came here to ask you what you had against me!”
“No, no,” said Holmes.“Instead, I’ll give you money if you tell me about the man in your cab this morning. He watched this house at 10:00 and then told you to follow the two gentlemen.”
The driver looked surprised and then answered,“The man said he was a detective and that I shouldn’t tell anyone about him.”
“It’s serious, my friend, and you may be in trouble if you refuse to answer.”
“His name,”said the driver,“was Sherlock Holmes.”
I’d never seen Holmes more surprised. Then he laughed.“He scored against me that time, Watson.”
The driver told us everything he knew. Holmes gave him the money and sent him away.“This is a dangerous enemy, Watson.”

Sherlock Holmes, the world’s greatest detective, is not a real person. He is a character from Arthur Conan Doyle’s books. Since the creation of Holmes in 1887, he has been taking us on adventures, one after another.
In the books, Holmes is thin and tall. He often wears a cap and a long coat. He thinks and speaks very fast. He smokes pipes(烟斗) and plays the violin. He is good at watching and analyzing(分析) things. He also knows a lot about chemistry.
But Holmes is lonely and unhappy. He is arrogant and often speaks to others impolitely. It seems that no one likes him except Watson. They are close friends and good partners. They trust each other and help each other out of danger.
The Sherlock series is a playful drama, covered in crime and mystery. It gives us a modern Sherlock for a new generation, who solves cases with the help of the Internet, cellphones and GPS. There were altogether four seasons from 2010 to 2017.
People watch Sherlock for both adventure and inspiration(灵感). Each case sends us on a mysterious journey alongside Holmes. The stories give life and colour to our imagination: as he checks the crime scene, we join him and become detectives too, looking out for hidden clues.
Yet Holmes is not a superman. He cannot fly, or turn invisible(隐形的). But his powers are within all of us: reasoning, logical thinking and paying attention to details.
