2023届新高考英语高频考点专项练习:专题十五 考点26 概要写作(B卷)
1. 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Emotions are "the glue" that connects people to one another. They are the foundation of your ability to understand yourself and relate to others. When you are aware of your emotions, you can manage stress and communicate well with others. Without emotions and an awareness of them, it's impossible to build or maintain strong, healthy relationships.
In order to know your level of emotional awareness, ask yourself the following questions. If you answer no, you may need to work on raising your emotional awareness: Can you tolerate strong feelings, such as anger and sadness Do you feel your emotions in your body Are you comfortable with all of your emotions Do you pay attention to your emotions and use them to guide your decisions
Raising your emotional awareness begins with managing stress. The ability to quickly reduce stress allows you to safely face strong emotions, secure in your ability to regulate your feelings and behave properly. Also, the process of raising emotional awareness involves reconnecting all of the main emotions, including anger, sadness, fear, disgust, surprise, and joy. So get back in touch with your emotions and feelings. Another key to raising emotional awareness is practice. Like building muscles in a gym, you wouldn't expect to be a bodybuilder after just five minutes. The more consistently you practice, the greater the changes you'll experience in what you feel, think, and do.
We are all born with a capacity to freely experience the full range of human emotions — joy, anger, sadness, and fear. Yet many people are trying to avoid them rather than experience them. If you avoid emotions, you will lose the good, along with the bad. Moreover, it's exhausting. You can change or turn a blind eye to your emotions, but you can't get rid of them entirely. It takes a lot of energy to avoid having emotional experiences and the effort leaves you exhausted. What's more, it damages your relationships. The more you distance yourself from your feelings, the more distant you become from others. You lose the ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively, both of which depend on being in touch with your emotions.

Will your job he done by a robot in the future Bank of England economists predict that almost half of all UK jobs are under threat of automation. Those most at risk involve repetitive manual labour, such as factory positions. But could even the venerable profession of teaching soon have to compete against powerful electronic educators
At first glance, teaching might seem to be unaffected to replacement by robots. Teachers use a range of soft skills that machines find hard to replicate. They judge pupils' needs and adapt feedback accordingly. They adapt materials to make them more attractive and effective. And they provide pastoral care: looking out for students who lag behind or disrupt the class.
However, some believe the future of education will be technological. In an interview with Business Insider magazine, futurist Thomas Frey predicts that by 2030 the largest company on the Internet is going to be an education-based company that we haven't heard of yet.
He thinks that "bots"—online robot teachers—will make education so efficient that students will be able to compress an entire undergraduate degree into six months of learning. "A hot learns what your 'interests' and 'reference points' are, and it figures out how to teach you in a faster and faster way over time," according to Frey.
Whether or not such incredible speeds will be reached, over the last decade there has been a huge increase in online learning panies such as Udemy and Khan Academy produce courses that allow millions to learn at home for free at their own pace. But there are limitations. Without the face-to-face stimulation of a classroom environment, the overwhelming majority of students fail to complete online courses. How to sustain motivation to learn is one more skill that online teachers will need to master. Indeed, Frey admits there is some way to go, "Nobody has quite cracked the code for the future of education." What do teachers themselves think about this Professor Donald Clark from Derby University in the UK thinks that we should welcome change, even though people will lose their jobs.
"Artificial intelligence will destroy jobs, so why not use it for a social good such as learning " he asked.

Many people think that listening is a passive business. It is just the opposite. Listening well is an active exercise of our attention and hard work. It is because they do not realize this, or because they are not willing to do the work, that most people do not listen well.
Listening well also requires total concentration upon someone else. An essential part of listening well is the rule known as "bracketing". Bracketing includes the temporary giving up or setting aside of your own prejudices and desires, to experience as far as possible someone else's world from the inside, stepping into his or her shoes. Moreover, since listening well involves bracketing, it also involves a temporary acceptance of the other person. Sensing this acceptance, the speaker will seem quite willing to open up the inner part of his or her mind to the listener. True communication is under way and the energy required for listening well is so great that it can be accomplished only by the will to extend oneself for mutual growth.
Most of the time we lack this energy. Even though we may feel in our business dealings or social relationships that we are listening well, what we are usually doing is listening selectively. Often we have a prepared list in mind and wonder, as we listen, how we can achieve certain desired results to get the conversation over as quickly as possible or redirected in ways more satisfactory to us. Many of us are far more interested in talking than in listening, or we simply refuse to listen to what we don't want to hear.
It wasn't until toward the end of my doctor career that I have found the knowledge that one is being truly listened to is frequently therapeutic(有效的). In about a quarter of the patients I saw, surprising improvement was shown during the first few months of psychotherapy (心理疗法), before any of the roots of problems had been uncovered or explained. There are several reasons for this phenomenon, but chief among them, I believe, was the patient's sense that he or she was being truly listened to, often for the first time in years, and for some, perhaps for the first time ever.

It was the old lady's birthday. She got up early to be ready for the post. From the second floor flat she could see the postman when he came, and the little boy from the ground floor brought up her letters on rare occasions when anything came.
Today she was sure there would be something. Myra wouldn't forget her mother's birthday, even if she seldom wrote at other times. Of course Myra was busy, and she herself had got a medal for her work for the aged. The old lady was proud of Myra. And Myra had been to see her mother three times since two years ago.
The old lady was eighty today. She had put on her best dress. Perhaps Myra might come. After all, eighty was a special birthday. Even if Myra did not come, she would send a present. She was excited, like a child.
Mrs Morrison had cleaned the flat, and she had brought a bunch of flowers when she came to do the breakfast. Mrs Grant downstairs had made a cake. Little Johnnie had been up with a packet of mints, and said he wouldn't go out to play until the post had come.
"I guess you'll get lots of presents," he said.
What would it be A pair of slippers, a table lamp, or a travel book She stood by the window, watching. The postman turned round the comer on his bicycle. Her heart beat fast.
Johnnie knocked at her door. "Granny, granny." He shouted, "I have got your post.''
He gave her four envelopes. Three were unsealed cards from old friends. The fourth was sealed, in Myra's writing. The old lady felt a sudden feeling of disappointment.
Almost reluctantly she tore the envelope open. Folded in the card was a piece of paper. Written on the card was a message under the printed Happy Birthday—Buy yourself something nice with the cheque, Myra.
The cheque dropped to the floor like a bird with a broken wing. Slowly the old lady picked it up. With trembling fingers she tore it into pieces.

It is quite reasonable to blame traffic jams, the cost of gas and the great speed of modern life, but manners on the road are becoming horrible. Everybody knows that the nicest men would become fierce tigers behind the wheel. It is all right to have a tiger in a cage, but to have one in the driver's seat is another matter.
Road politeness is not only good manners, but good sense too. It takes the most cool-headed drivers great patience to give up the desire to beat back when forced to face rude driving. On the other hand, a little politeness goes a long way towards reducing the possibility of quarreling and fighting. A friendly nod or a wave of thanks in answer to an act of politeness helps to create an atmosphere of good will and becomes so necessary in modem traffic conditions. But such behaviors of politeness are by no means enough. Many drivers nowadays don't even seem able to recognize politeness when they see it.
However, misplaced politeness can also be dangerous. Typical examples are the driver who waves a child crossing the street at a wrong place into the path of oncoming cars that may not be able to stop in time. The same goes for encouraging old ladies to cross the road wherever and whenever they want to.
An experienced driver, whose manners are faultless, told me it would help if drivers learned to correctly join in traffic stream without causing total blockages that give rise to unpleasant feelings. Unfortunately, modern drivers can't even learn to drive, let alone master the roadmanship. Years ago, experts warmed us that the fast increase of the car ownership would demand more give-and-take (互让) from all road users. It is high time for all of us to take this message to heart.

Sometimes people complain that getting to work in a big city is no easy matter, just like the popular saying goes, "Taking a bus is too crowded, getting a taxi is too expensive, buying a car is not practical." It seems that traffic jams and cities go hand in hand. Everyone complains about being stuck in traffic; however, like the weather, no one seems to do anything about it. Needless to say, traffic jam occurs where there are lots of people but limited spaces. However, there are indeed some things you can do to reduce the time you spend in traffic jams.
For example, the highway is not always the fastest way to get from Point A to Point B. Research the area and check online maps to see if you can find a shorter route to work, which usually flows more smoothly during rush hour and can help reduce much of your driving time. From the above you may know that alternative route is of great importance.
Let's take another example. Most of the population works from 8 am to 5 pm, which means that the majority of traffic jams happen around 7 am and 6 pm. So if you want to avoid a traffic jam, talk to your manager about arriving at the office earlier and leaving earlier. If some of us and companies can do like this, the conditions of heavy traffic can be changed in a way.
Finally, you can take gymnastics, dance or yoga classes after work to avoid traffic jams. Actually, there are many reasons for us to take exercise classes and to the gym, instead of shopping and entertaining friends after work. This is a clever solution that can also help people improve their health and meet others with similar interests.

Although being famous might sound like a dream come true, today's stars, feeling like zoo animals, face pressures that few of us can imagine. They are at the center of much of the world's attention. Paparazzi(狗仔队)camp outside their homes, cameras ready. Tabloids (小报) publish thrilling stories about their personal lives. Just imagine not being able to do anything without being photographed or interrupted for a signature.
According to the psychologists, celebrities(名人) worry constantly about their public appearance. Eventually, they start to lose track of who they really are, seeing themselves the way fans imagine them, not as the people they were before everyone knew their names. Over time, they feel separated and alone.
The phenomenon of tracking celebrities has been around for ages. In the 4th century BC, painters followed Alexander the Great into battle, hoping to picture his victories for his admirers. When Charles Dickens visited America in the 19th century, his sold-out readings attracted thousands of fans, leading him to complain about his lack of privacy. Tabloids of the 1920s and 1930s ran articles about film-stars in much the same way that modern tabloids and websites do.
Being a public figure today, however, is a lot more difficult than it used to be. Superstars cannot move about without worrying about photographers with modem cameras. When they say something silly or do something ridiculous, there is always the Internet to spread the news in minutes and keep their "story" alive forever.
If fame is so troublesome, why aren't all celebrities running away from it The answer is there are still ways to deal with it. Some stars stay calm by surrounding themselves with trusted friends and family or by escaping to remote places away from big cities. They focus not on how famous they are but on what they love to do or whatever made them famous in the first place. With these effective approaches, some celebrities relieve the stress and remain popular with fans. Consequently, though being famous is driving some stars crazy, some wise ones enjoy what reputation brings them.

Population Change of European Birds
The breeding bird populations in Europe have seen a great shift over the past three decades, driven by both climate crisis and human interferences, according to one of the world's largest citizen science projects on biodiversity.
Overall, 35% of birds increased their breeding range. Dr. Iván Ramírez, senior head of conservation at BirdLife Europe and central Asia, said: "Those birds that have been legally protected have been doing better than those which are not protected. This is a really important message within the European Union. We have one of the oldest policies – the Birds Directive – and we can prove that it works."
In addition, as the climate warms, forests are stretching into northern and agricultural regions. In parts of northern Europe, there has also been tree planting (mainly for wood and paper) and land abandonment (specifically in Mediterranean areas), which benefited many woodland species such as woodpeckers and warblers but caused damage to a number of other species as well. The research shows a total of 25% of birds now occupy a smaller area.
Generally, farmland birds are bigger losers, suffering overall declines in population and reduced distribution because agricultural intensification means there is less food, such as insects and remainder from harvesting. The State of Nature in the EU 2013-2018 assessment showed 80% of key habitats were in poor or bad condition, and intensive farming is a major driver of decline. The UK's farmland birds have declined by 55% since 1970.
"Predictably, there are winners and losers. We can see how some species have expanded across the continent rapidly and have begun to colonize UK wetlands. In contrast, we can see ranges shrinking as species of northern Europe feel the impact of climate change, and species such as the dotterel are declining in numbers and range in northern Britain," he said.
