How’s everything going I’d like to tell you something about the song My Motherland.
The song was written by Qiao Yu and composed by Liu Chi. Its lyrics are majestic and its melody is exciting. It was first sung on the film Battle On Shangganling Mountain.
When I was ten years old, I watched the movie. The song brought hope and strength to the wounded soldiers. At that moment, I was deeply moved.
Whenever I hear this song, I am proud of my motherland. It inspires me to study hard. In the future, I will try my best to contribute to our country and wish our country better and better.

Dear Jack,
It is quite rude for children or adults to bring electronic games, mobile phones, etc. to the dining table whether at home or in restaurants.
One of my worries is that some adults leave their mobile phones on ringer (响铃装置) and have conversations next to me when I am trying to enjoy my meal. When people enter a restaurant their mobile phones should be closed, on silence or on vibrating (震动). If they must answer a call they should excuse themselves from the table and go to the rest room to speak.
Children should be taught the art of conversation at a very early age when dining. They should not be allowed to monopolize (独占) or interrupt, but talk at the proper time. Some family-style restaurants provide coloring materials for young children to play with while they are waiting for their meals. This is a quiet activity and they can still have a conversation, too.
Some adults treat restaurants as offices and talk about business during their meals. When it bothers others who are enjoying their meals quietly, then it should not be done.
The basic rule of having good manners is to treat others the way you like to be treated and that is with respect and consideration.
Thank you for writing.
Best regards,
Tony Black

Don’t lean (倚靠) back and say “I’m through” or “I’m full”. Just put the fork and knife across the plate. That’s all.
Don’t cut up everything before you start to eat. Cut only one or two bites (块) atatime.
Never take a huge mouthful of anything. Do you want to show how hungry you are Don’t do that. It’s not so good.
It’s never good to reach across the table for anything. If the thing you want is not at hand, simply ask the nearest person for help, like “Mrs. Smith, could you pass me the dish ”

If you feel sad or upset, remember not to watch a happy movie. A sad movie may be more suitable for you.
Some scientists at Ohio State University, the U.S., have found that sad movies can make people happier. They published their study in a magazine called Communication Research.
Scientists asked 361 college students to watch a sad movie called Atonement. The movie tells a story of two lovers who were separated. They died during World War II at the end of the movie. The 361 college students answered questions from the scientists before, after and three times during the movie to find out their different feelings, including sadness.
According to the result of the survey, scientists found out that people felt better after watching the sad movie. Scientists believed this was because the movie made them think about their own lives and pared to those of the unlucky lovers in the movie, their lives were full of hope.
“I want to live my life to the fullest, and this movie has made me think a lot,” one student wrote.
Silvia Knob-loch-Westerwick, the leader of the study, explained that bad moods (情绪) would make people more thoughtful. “Good moods are generally a sign that everything is fine. You don’t have to worry, and you don’t have to think about problems in your life,” she said. “But bad emotions, like sadness, make you feel terrible about your situation. Therefore, seeing a sad movie may make you feel bad, but that will cause you to think more about your own close relationships and value them more.”
27. The scientists asked the college students to watch Atonement ______.
A. to help them make more friends
B. to make them feel better about themselves
C. to find out how they felt after watching it
D. to encourage them to share their feelings
