Unit 4 Why don’t you talk to your parents
第一课时 Section A (1a-2d)
教学目标
1.语言目标：学习谈论问题和困难、提出建议相关词汇，及如何根据问题提出相应建议。
2.技能目标：能听懂谈论提出问题及给予建议的对话材料；能根据对方所提出的问题，给出一些合理的建议。
3.情感目标：培养学生良好的合作意识，鼓励学生大胆表达自己的想法和意愿。正确认识生活中的一些困难，能采用正确的方式解决生活中的问题。
教学重点
短语:allow sb.to do sth.,work out,get on with,argue with,communicate with,compete with,cut out,compare… with…
句子:1. Why don’t you talk to your parents

Step 1 Warming up
1. Listen to an English songs and talk about what your mom says to you.
1. Lead-in
T: What’s the matter / What’s wrong
S: He has too much homework to do.
T: Does he like to do it
S1:No, he doesn’t. Because he doesn’t have any free time to do things he likes. …
Step 2 Pair work
1. Look at pictures. Do you have such problems in your school life
2. Ss discuss with their partners and give some advice.
A: I have too much homework. What should I do？
B: Why don’t you/ Why not/ You should do your homework quickly？(.)
Step 3 Listening
1.T: Peter has a new problem. His friend is giving him some advice.Now let’s listen to the tape.
2. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and circle theadvice you hear in 2a.
3. T: Peter doesn’t like his advice. Now listen to 2b and match the reasons.
4. Can you give him some better advice
Step 4 Pairwork
1. Let Ss read the conversation in the box.
2. Use the information in 1a to make other conversations.
3. Let some pairs act out their conversations.
e.g. A: What’s wrong
B: I’m really tired because I studied until midnight last night.
A: Why don’t you go to sleep earlier this evening
Step 5 Role-play
1. Ss read the conversations and try to answer the following questions.
① What’s Kim’ s problem
② What’s Dave’s advice
2. Explain some new words and main points in the conversation.
(1) look through
e.g. Look through your notes before the exam. 考试前浏览下你的笔记。
(2) big deal
big deal是英语中的一个固定搭配，表示 “重要的事情或状况”，多用于非正式交流。作否定用法时，常说It’s not a big deal或It’s no big deal.表示说话人并不认为某事有什么了不起。
(3) work out
e.g. The problem is so difficult that I can’t work it out. 这个问题如此难以至于我解决不了它。
3.Practice the conversation with their partner. Then let some pairs to act out the conversation.
