1a Read the passage and think what you can learn from Jenny.
Jenny lives in London with her parents. When she was three, she could play the piano a little but she couldn’t write at all. At the age of five, she could play the piano very well, but she could only write a few words. When she was six, there was something wrong with her eyes. Jenny could not see anything any more. Life was very hard for her!
With her mother’s help, Jenny can write well now. She is writing her first book. She wants to be a great writer.

当她三岁的时候, 她就会弹钢琴了。
when 当……时候, 在这引导一个时间状语从句。类似的词语有:while 当……时候,before 在……以前,after 在……以后,as soon as 一……就,until 到……(的时候)为止,not …until 直到……才。
e.g. Call me when you finish it.你完成后就打电话给我。
2. At the age of five, she could play the piano very well, but she could
only write a few words.
五岁时,她钢琴弹得很好,但她只会写几个字。
age作名词,意为“年龄”;at the age of 在……岁时,常可以和“when + sb. + be +年龄”互换。
e.g. What’s your age = How old are you 你多大?
He could swim at the age of six.
=He could swim when he was six.
他六岁时会游泳。
3. When she was six, there was something wrong with her eyes.
她在六岁时,眼睛出了问题。

What’s the matter 是用来询问对方出了什么毛病或问题,
意为“怎么了”,是医生询问病人病情时的常用语。
e.g.— What’s the matter 怎么了?
— I have a stomachache. 我胃痛。

意为“某人怎么了?”也可用What’s wrong with sb. 或What’s your trouble 来表示。

not… any more 意为“不再……”,not与句中的主要动词构成否定句,any more 常放在句末。
e.g. We won’t go there any more. 我们不会再去那里了。

not…any more, no more的区别
not…any more和 no more 意思相同,经常可以互换;它们都侧重于和瞬间动词连用,两者都表示“过去曾……现在不再……”,表示做某事的次数不再增多。但no more 常用于正式文体,not…any more常用于口语中。
e.g. Her letter doesn’t come any more. 她的信再也没有来过了。
I can no more drink. 我不能再喝了。

with one’s help=with the help of sb. “在某人的帮助下”,with为介词,不能用under。
