Design concepts:
Our traditional teaching bases on teachers, which focuses on “teaching”, but ignores the dominant position of “learning”. Constructivism bases on student-centered, and emphasizes students’ active learning, active searching and active constructing. “The whole student” concept is a new teaching attempt and practice of which core is Constructivism. It advocates “learning” but “teaching”, and teachers are guiders, helpers, promoters while students are constructors, active learners.
Teaching background analysis
Teaching content analysis: It is the first period of Unit5, and the key point is speaking and listening. The main purpose of this period is to develop the students' ability in using language to communicate. I will adopt “the whole student” concept which based on student – centered. The teachers are only helpers.
Student analysis: They have a basic knowledge of English, and are interested in English. Most of them are enthusiastic. But their learning habits, strategies and skills are not so good. They should learn to improve their comprehensive language ability.

Teaching procedures:
Step1: Greeting and talking

T; What kind of TV shows do you like

T; Do you want to watch a short video(sitcom) ... Then tell me what kind of show it is.
Purpose: promote students’ learning initiative and prepare for the topic of TV shows.
Step2: Presentation (present soap opera, sitcom, news, educational, find out , hope. may)
T: After the video, what kind of show is it
S: It is sitcom.
T: I like sitcoms, because they’re funny.

Show different faces to present the sentences that express likes and dislikes.

Purpose: Learn important sentences by talking and communicating.
