选择题部分
Ⅰ.阅读理解(共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Many fruits and vegetables would disappear from grocery store shelves if it weren't for honeybees. Almonds (扁桃仁), for example, are a D|S2.5 billion industry in California, and almond growers depend on honeybees to pollinate (授粉) the crop. No honeybees would mean no almonds. Many berries (like blackberries and strawberries) need bees, as do vegetables like cucumbers and squash. And don't forget tree crops like apples, oranges and peaches. Watermelon and cantaloupes depend on bees, too.In fact, approximately 15 percent of the food Americans eat comes directly from honeybee pollination. Another 15 percent comes from animals that eat foods that bees pollinate. In other words, close to a third of the food that Americans eat currently requires honeybee pollination. Honeybee pollination is so important that bee farmers actually truck their bees from orchard (果园) to orchard and from farm to farm to help pollinate crops.
A honeybee starts the honey making process by visiting a flower. With luck, the flower contains nectar (花蜜), and the bee sucks some of the nectar up with a little straw built into its mouth. Most flower nectars are like sugar water; there is a little sugar mixed with water. Nectars can contain other beneficial substances as well. To make honey, two things happen.
The first thing uses enzymes (酶). One enzyme that bees produce turns the sucrose (蔗糖) in the nectar into glucose (葡萄糖) and fructose (果糖). Another enzyme turns some of the glucose into an acid and hydrogen peroxide (过氧化氢). By making honey acidic, it kills any bacteria that get into the honey.
The second thing uses evaporation (蒸发) to get rid of the extra water. Most of the moisture has to be evaporated, so that honey is only about 18 percent water. Bees evaporate the extra water by putting little drops of nectar in the hive and fanning it with their wings.
Honey is a very stable food. It naturally resists molds (霉菌), fungi (真菌) and other bacteria, allowing it to last for years without refrigeration.
1.Bees are always trucked between different places in order to________.
A.lay eggs in all the orchards and farms
B.mate with bees living in different zones
C.help bee farmers deal with harmful insects
D.pollinate flowers or plants grown in different places
2.Which one is the way mentioned in the passage to make honey
A.To evaporate most of the moisture in the nectar.
B.To kill all the bacteria in the nectar.
C.To expose it to sunlight for some time.
D.To mix the nectar with some sugar.
3.Why honey can be kept for a long time without being cooled
A.Because there is no bacteria in it.
B.Because it can stand bad weather conditions.
C.Because it protects itself against bacteria naturally.
D.Because it is well preserved in containers.

Bored with your life Dreaming of something different I always wonder what life would be like 400 km above my head. That's where the International Space Station orbits the earth, with six astronauts living and working on board, for months at a time.
How do they sleep They spend the night floating in a sleeping bag inside a small cubicle (小隔间) on the ceiling. American astronaut Sunita Williams explains, “It's like a little phone booth, but it's pretty comfortable and it doesn't matter if I turn over and sleep upside down. I don't have any sensation (感觉) in my head that tells me I'm upside down.”
Brushing your teeth in a place where you can't have a tap or a sink can be a challenge. Can you imagine the mess that running water would make in zero gravity Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield uses a straw to put a big blob (一滴) of water from a sealed bag onto an ordinary toothbrush and adds a little toothpaste which he has to swallow when he's done.
Daily exercise is essential. The lack of gravity makes bones more fragile and muscles lose strength — so astronauts are encouraged to work out for at least two hours a day.
The role of astronauts in the International Space Station is to act as lab technicians for scientists back on earth. So they spend their time maintaining their environment and performing and monitoring experiments in a confined space about the size of a Boeing 747. Almost every task is carefully planned by mission control — although most astronauts spend their first days losing things until they get used to sticking everything they use to the walls with Velcro, duct tape (强力胶带) or clips (夹子).
One of their most valued perks (额外待遇) is the view from “the office”, dominated by that gigantic blue ball down there, sitting in the darkness of space. Wow! Absolutely breathtaking!
4.When they sleep upside down, the astronauts will not get dizzy because ________.
A.they don't feel it
B.they sleep in the daytime
C.they sleep in special sleeping bags
D.they are trained to adapt to the conditions of weightlessness
5.What parts become weak if astronauts don't exercise
A.Their teeth and bones.
B.Their brains and bones.
C.Their teeth and muscles.
D.Their bones and muscles.
6.What is the best title for the text
A.The Problems We Met in Space
B.How to Become an Astronaut
C.Living and Working in Space
D.The International Space Station

On the Right Track
Why do we always want to go faster I am talking about travel. We want our cars, trains and planes to get us to places quicker. This century, there's been a rise in high speed rail travel as people have seen the benefits of this form of transport.
I love train travel and have experienced the efficient and fast trains that operate in France and Japan. The acceleration and top speed of these trains are impressive. The space and comfort on board make it comfortable and the ability to see something out of the window means, according to me, it will beat air travel one day.
Spain recently joined the railway revolution with its AVE ultra modern high speed train that has a top speed of 310 kilometers per hour. Its service from Madrid to Barcelona took 20% of passengers away from Spain's national airline. In Japan, a magnetic train that will run at 500 kilometers per hour is being developed.
This has categorized rail travel in Britain as the slow line. It has one high speed line from London to France — HS1 — but now it is planning to construct a new line called HS2 which will connect London with the north of England. The U.K. government's transport secretary says, “This is essential to actually making sure that our great cities are connected and we get the right benefits for the United Kingdom. ”
But not everyone agrees. The idea of fast train travel may appeal but not if it's going to be built in your backyard. It's controversial: people are arguing over the benefits and cost of having shorter journey time, less traffic on the roads and more capacity on the rail network.
John Kelleher, who is a farmer and lives on the proposed site of the new line, says, “They're not taking the destruction into consideration, which HS2 will cause on its construction sites and routes through the countryside.” Some people are worried the financial and environmental cost of saving just half an hour on a journey will be too high. But other countries have shown that high speed rail is good for the economy. It has helped poorer parts of the country reduce the need to fly and has made train travel cool.
7.Which is the most comfortable form of travel according to the author
A.Rail. B.Air.
C.Highway. D.Underground.
8.Which statement is NOT the benefit of the fast train travel
A.Construction of it will benefit the environment of the countryside.
B.It reduces traffic jam.
C.It saves some time on a journey.
D.It can hold more people.
9.What is the author's attitude toward the high speed rail
A.Supportive. B.Negative.
C.Doubtful. D.Objective.
10.What is the main idea of the passage
A.People benefit from high speed rail a lot.
B.More and more people are fond of traveling.
C.High speed rail travel has developed quickly recently.
D.Travel means having a vital effect on local economy.

Ⅵ.读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
One day my dad came back home in his truck and there was a cage in the back. Naturally I was curious, so I went towards the truck when I noticed that there was a small_little_goat that wasn't even an adult yet.
I asked my dad and he said that he bought the goat from his friend and decided to mention that he was going to kill it twenty minutes after he brought it home so that we would have a big meal.
My sister was there too and she was strongly for my view. We found_out we got really mad at my dad and told him not to kill it. After a good 10 minutes of complaining we finally convinced my dad not to kill it because we told him that there was no reason for him to kill the goat himself when he could just buy goat meat at a store.
My parents know some friends that we visit sometimes and their family really likes animals so we decided to give it to them. For about a month, they had the goat as a pet and they also had the same problems we had because the dad wanted to kill it and eat it but the rest of the family didn't want it to die. They also were able to persuade him not to do so. They ended up sending the goat to a family member's farm where it would grow up happily.
Another thing that has happened to influence my belief is that I have a neighbor that really likes hunting. One day he hunted a deer and brought the body home, but he decided to leave it outside his house for everyone to see. He just left it there like it was some kind of award that he just won. Sadly little kids started to make fun of the body and pretended to ride on it. They laughed at it and felt no_problem with there being a dead deer just laying there.
注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;

参考范文:
My hometown is a small city where its people are living a comfortable life. A river winds its way through the city. The scenery of the river is beautiful all the year round.
When it snows heavily in winter, the land is soon all white. The leafless trees along the river are all covered with white quilts, which is so beautiful. Children can't wait to play in the snow. Some are throwing snowballs at each other, some skating on the frozen river which has thick ice on its surface and some cutting holes in the ice to catch fish. All these scenes have become the best memories of my childhood.
I love the snow falling on the land of my hometown. I love my hometown, especially the river.

4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。
Paragraph 1:
I felt sick by what was happening and left because of what I had just witnessed.

Paragraph 2:
It amazes me how we have changed from hunting to survive to hunting for sport.

参考范文:
Paragraph 1:
I felt sick by what was happening and left because of what I had just witnessed. The majority of the people there saw no_problem with what was happening and a month later, I found_out that my neighbor's daughter wants to hunt when she gets older because she thinks it's “fun”.
Paragraph 2:
It amazes me how we have changed from hunting to survive to hunting for sport. I just don't see any reason to kill a living thing for fun. This just leads to people hunting animals, even the small_little_goat is endangered because people start to think that there's nothing wrong with killing a life as long as it's not a human. If there's one thing I ask of you, it's to be open minded towards animals not just humans and don't kill for sport.
