Ⅲ.阅读理解
(原创题)
When a new school year starts, the super protective Chinese parents follow their children everywhere to help deal with all the enrollment procedures (入学手续) and get them settled in their dormitories.
However, the new policy of Tsinghua University this semester is sending a message: Boys and girls, it's time to become independent.
On move in day, a yellow line was drawn across the entrance of the school area, separating parents from their children. The students themselves had to spend about three hours registering (注册) and finding their dormitories.
By doing this,_the university is asking students to “start this new adventure by standing on their own feet”, said Chen Jining, president of Tsinghua.
Following Tsinghua, other universities have also made policies to encourage students to enroll alone.
Oujiang College, at Wenzhou University in Zhejiang, has opened an online platform (平台) for freshmen to contact senior schoolmates who can guide them on enrollment day. Renmin University asked senior students to return to their hometowns and accompany freshmen to school.
This change has excited many freshmen. Feng Lei, a Tsinghua freshman from Gansu province, took a train to Beijing with only one schoolmate. “It's my first long trip without my parents, and I am quite excited about it,” he said, “Coming to the university begins a new stage of my life, and I should learn to take care of myself from the start.”
Although some say such policies are not enough to make students independent, many believe it can help start to change the situation. “Such campaigns help students realize they have to live on their own,” said Xiong Bingqi, vice president of the 21st Century Education Research Institute.
“The lack of independence has been a major concern for kids born in the 1990s, as parents arranged everything, which hampered (阻碍) children's all around development,” Xiong added.
36.The underlined word “this” in Paragraph 4 probably refers to ________.
A. drawing a yellow line
B. separating freshmen from their parents
C. encouraging freshmen
D. getting freshmen to enroll alone
答案与解析 D 代词指代题。根据文章第三和第四段可判断出this指代让新生独立报到入学。
37 If you are a freshman of Tsinghua, you should ________ according to the policy.
A. finish registering alone
B. settle in your dormitory with the help of your mother
C. travel to the university by yourself
D. find a senior schoolmate to guide you on enrollment day
答案与解析 A 细节理解题。 根据文章第三段第二句“spend about three hours registering (注册) and finding their dormitories”可知A项正确。
38.From the passage we can learn that ________.
A. senior students from Oujiang College should accompany freshmen to school
B. all freshmen of Tsinghua are excited by the policy
C. not all universities ask their freshmen to enroll alone
D. Feng Lei, excited by the policy, went to Tsinghua alone
答案与解析 C 推理判断题。文章只提到几所大学鼓励新生自主报到,故并不是所有大学都鼓励新生自主报到,C项正确。
39.According to Xiong Bingqi, ________.
A. children's lack of independence hampered their all around development
B. the policy can help students realize they should be independent
C. parents are concerned about kids born in the 1990s
D. the policy is a real adventure for Tsinghua University
