Warming-up
Enjoy a song“Qomolangma”.
Step 1 Pre-reading
Activity 1 Talk about the differences.
Show some pictures about differences of sports culture between China and western countries.
Activity 2 Predicting
Talk about the picture from the textbook.
Get students to answer two questions and then predict: What is the passage about
1、What mountain is it
2、What sport are the two people doing
设计意图:通过图片和回答问题让学生对本节课的内容有大概的了解,预热课堂。
Step 2 While-reading
Task1 match the main ideas
设计意图:通过略读迅速完成Task 1了解skimming reading.
Task2 Facts about Qomolangma
Show students a map and get them to know the facts of Qomolangma.
Task3 List the dangers
Show some pictures of the dead climbers to get the students know the
dangers about Qomolangma.
Read paragraph 1 and finish the task of this part.
Show a video from a movie called Mt. Everest
设计意图:让学生们通过地图了解珠峰的相关情况,通过视频和死去的登山者的图片了解珠峰的危险。
Task4 Achievements of the climbers
Read paragraph 2 and fill in the chart.
设计意图:通过这个环节的设置,不仅让学生们了解到人类在登珠峰中所取得的成就而且明白有时人类比自然的力量更强。

Read paragraph 3 and answer the two questions.

Read the passage and fill in the blanks.

Activity 3 Achieving
1)Show students the most famous answer to the question ----Why do so many people try to climb this mountain even though it is dangerous
