三、教材分析:
《What’s the highest mountain in the world？》是八年级下册的第七单元课题。 本单元主要谈论地理与自然的世界知识。在八年级上册Unit 3和Unit 4两个单元对形容词和副词的学习、讲解和练习的基础上，再一次展现比较级和最高级的更为高深的固定句型结构，帮助孩子们构建一个更加完整的知识理论体系，这也是初中阶段最后一次教材中集中学习此项语法项目。
另外，本单元也是让孩子们第一次体会、学习并尝试运用较大的数字的英语表达方法，了解世界和我国的一些“自然地理之最”，与最高级完美的结合。这些数字对于孩子来说，并不容易。最初，接触数字只是一些电话号码、ID号码和用到hundred、thousand足够表达所学数字了，但是本单元，需要将过去的所学集中运用的同时，还要继续学习运用million等, 同时记录所听到的数字依然是一个大难题。
本节课是本单元的第五课时，课型是Writing。通过复习单词，展示图片、视频，大大降低了学生的学习难度，为接下来的写作教学活动做好热身铺垫，让孩子们在阅读、问答探究中进一步了解国宝大熊猫，意识到由于我们人类有意无意的行为对自然界的动物们的伤害，并感悟到保护它们的重要性和必要性，从而能发自肺腑的有意识的去保护它们。通过一系列的教学活动安排， 让孩子们有话要说，有词有句可依，有一堆思想去表达，最后给成写作练习机会，使其一吐为快。
四、教学目标:
（1）知识与能力目标：

2. Learn to use the ways to write a short passage.
（2）过程与方法目标：
1. Train students try to catch the main messages while reading the paragraphs.
2. Understand what we should do and shouldn’t do to protect the pandas while reading, discussing and writing.
（3）情感态度与价值观目标：
Help students understand the pandas are our friends, and it’s our duty to protect them both in the zoos and in the nature and make them happy and healthy. At the same time, help students to start to protect the wild animals from now on and do it in our daily life.

2. Learn to know what to do or not to do to protect the pandas and even other wild animals.

七、教学过程：
Step 1. Warming-up and lead-in
1. Ss read the words and phrases together and guess what kind of animals they are.

2. Then in pairs try to use these vocabularies to describe pandas and share each other.
Ask some students to show later.
设计意图：出示图片，展示话题中可能会出现的词汇，为后面的话题作文做好铺垫，也为话题做好词汇积淀。调动学生的学习兴趣，导入熊猫—国宝，帮助学生们联想到背景知识，降低学习难度。
Step 2. Preparation
1. Show several PPT about pandas and help Ss learn more about them.
2. Read the two short paragraphs first, then discuss in groups and answer them.
1). Are there many pandas in China
2) As we know, the pandas can’t live very long. Why are they always endangered
3) What do our country do to protect them
3. The teacher says:“There are more and more pandas than before. But is it enough ”Students in pairs discuss what we should do to protect the pandas.
设计意图：展示熊猫成长的变化图片，让孩子们更直观的进一步了解熊猫。通过对两段短文材料的阅读，结合问题让孩子们更有针对性的了解熊猫的生存现状，并通过两人的对话讨论，引导号召孩子们保护熊猫从自己做起。当然，阅读能力、口语表达能力也是逐步实践提高,更重要的是为最后的习作练习提供了框架结构的范例。期盼着学生们能够在不知不觉中体会文章材料与所提问题之间的关联，为习作中的回答问题写文章做好了逆向推导铺垫。
Step 3 Discussing and Writing
1. In groups discuss the composition first, and then ask several to the front to show as examples.
熊猫作为我国的国宝和象征，一直深受全国人民和全世界的人民
的喜爱， 但是由于某些自身原因和外界环境因素的影响，熊猫一直
濒临灭绝。请你，作为一个志愿者，向你的同学和家人提倡，共同参
与保护熊猫。
下列问题可能会对你的习作有所帮助哦！
1). What’s a panda like
2). Why is it so important
3). Why is it in great danger
4). What should we do to protect them
2. Play a short video about Pandas in the zoo. Help them understand they prefer to live in their natural homes freely.
3. Then write a short passage each one first, check it and correct the mistakes if necessary in groups. Then the group leaders choose the best one of each group and show it in the front later.
设计意图：让学生们在小组中自己动手写作文之前，先小组成员之间讨论作文，各抒己见，相互交流学习，相信各个层次的孩子都能从中受益，有不同的所收获。通过视频的展示，让孩子们体会，熊猫在动物园里嬉戏打闹、追逐玩耍，十分幸福还是实属无奈？引导孩子保护动物从自己做起,让动物与人和谐相处。
接下来，让孩子们独立完成小习作，并且做到自查、互查，孩子们能够互相学习，得到不同程度的提高。最后，选出小组中最为优秀的进行展示，给更优秀的孩子们搭建平台，锻炼展示自我，并让其他的孩子们学习借鉴。
Step 4. Summary
设计意图：利用图表，给孩子们展现一个清晰明了的线路图，一目了然容易记忆，方便其在日常学习习作中的运用。教师带领学生们一起每一项都逐一解释说明，从点到面，面面俱到，帮助孩子们理解，使其具有可操作性，知道要从何入手、看什么、想什么、写什么……。

Save the Wild Animals
许多野生动物正面临绝种的危险，因为它们生活的环境发生了极大的变化。譬
如，野生动物的生活区域变得越来越狭小。许多野生动物目前正面临着食物方面的
危机。同时，为了获取野生动物的毛、皮、角、牙齿和肉，人类正在屠杀野生动物。
为了保护生态资源，人们应当意识到任何物种的缺失，至少意味着知识资源和
自然美的缺失。因此，应采取以下措施：制订污染标准以降低有毒物质；严禁杀害
某些稀有物种；应建立国家公园作为野生动植物保护区。
我们只有采取一些有力措施，才能保护野生动物。

Save the Wild Animals
Why are many animals in great danger 食物、水和生活空间的减少。
人类正在屠杀野生动物为了获取野生动物的毛皮（fur and skin）和肉。
How to save the wild animals 每个人做到少扔垃圾，不要污染水，没有买卖，严禁杀害。
国家应多建立国家公园作为野生动植物保护区；多教育人们更好的了解野生动物。
Let’s save the wild animals from now on.
设计意图：给孩子们更多的机会去体验运用所学的方法，培养学生的思维能力，进行情感和德育教育。同时，鼓励学生们用尽可能多的英语进行表述，提升英语思维能力。
但本部分是作为本节课的备用材料准备的，如果孩子们课堂活动进展顺畅，那就展示此环节，强化写作方法的练习与运用。如果时间不够，此环节就直接被删除了。
