Part I.Teaching material
1.Status and function
The topic of this unit is about literature and music. Such a topic is related to our daily life, so it’s easy to arouse students’ learning interests. As we all know, reading has a great effect on speaking and writing. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material.

a).The important point is using the reading strategies while reading and get the ideas about the passage.
b).The difficult points are retell and summary.
4.The analysis of students
For grade 8 students, they have mastered enough knowledge both in vocabulary and reading skills, it’ll be helpful for them to understand the passage.
Part II.Teaching procedures
Step 1:Warming-up
Watch a video:Taylor Swift---never grow up
设计意图:通过播放一首现在流行的乡村音乐的视频,作为本节课的课前热身。
Step 2 :Leading-in
T:Do you know the singer Have you ever heard this song She is a famous country music singer.(T show the profile of Taylor Swift.)Now,I want to know something about your favorite singer.You can discuss these questions with your partner and then show your answers to us.

T:Most of you like pop music or rock.In this class,we will learn something another kind of music.
设计意图:教师先介绍一名乡村音乐歌手,这位歌手也是因为对乡村音乐的热爱,而成为了乡村音乐歌手,从而引入本节课的话题。
Step 3:Predicting

设计意图:在阅读之前,可以通过对文章的标题和图片猜测,来预知本文的内容。
Step 4:While-reading
I.Skimming
T:Read the passage quickly and find the main idea of each paragraphs.Remember:main ideas are usually the first sentence or the last sentence.

设计意图:快速浏览文章,找出文章的段落大意。教师在学生阅读之前,可以讲授阅读技巧,即段落大意一般在第一句或最后一句。
II.Careful reading.

设计意图:在复述文章的环节,还是采用阅读时划分的小组,每两小组复述一段。小组之间复述之后可以进行比较,教师综合较好的复述进行展示。作为口头输出,复述短文可以帮助学生更好的理解语篇。
Step 6:Writing
T:Just now we have retold the passage.Now you have to write a summary of the passage.You can use the information in the mind-map.Remember,write no more than 100 words.
设计意图:通过写作,达到笔头输出。在经过口头输出的复述之后,学生对缩写已有一定的思路。
