Step 2 Listening

T: As we all know, we must look after our things well. But it’s common for us to leave things
behind.Some students had a picnic in a park. And left many things there. What did they
leave (hat, volleyball, plate, ...)
T: Now look at the picture. Write the things you see in the correct columns in the chart.

I. Prediction
T: We have found five owners. In fact, there is still a schoolbag left in the park. Bob and
Anna found it. what’s in it
Read the information in 2a and 2b carefully and predict what’s in the schoolbag.
We can use “There might/ could be ….in the school bag”.
▲ While- listening
I. 2a Listen and write down the things in the school bag.
II. 2b Listen again and fill in the blanks.
(1) read the note to summarize the use of modal verbs.
T: Which modal verbs did Bob and Anna use to make inferences just now
(must, could, might, can’t)
How to use them
Must shows that you think something is probably true. It means “一定是;准是” in Chinese.
Might or could shows that you think something is possibly true. It means “也许;可能” in
Chinese.
Can’t shows that you are almost sure something is not true. It means “一定不是;准不是” in
Chinese.
(2) Listen and check
T: Which modal verbs did they use in each sentence Let’s listen and fill in the blanks.
III. Listen again and find the reasons of their predictions.

they are And you must give your reasons.You can use “the... must be... , because...”
When the owner hear your name, you should stand up and say “Yes, you are right”. This way
I can give it to you. I will divide you into four groups. Let’s have a competition. We can see
which group is the best.
