Have you ever been to Singapore For many Chinese tourists, this small island in South east Asia is a wonderful place to take a holiday. On the one hand, about three quarters of the population are Chinese, so you can simply speak Putonghua. On the other hand, Singapore is an English speaking country, so it’s also a good place to practise your English!
Have you ever tried Chinese food outside China Maybe you fear that you won’t be able to find anything to eat in a foreign country. In Singapore, however, you’ll find a lot of food from China. You won’t have any problems finding rice, noodles or dumplings. However, if you have great courage, Singapore is an excellent place to try new food, such as Laksa, a popular spicy (辛辣的) noodle soup. Whether you like Indian food. Western food, or Japanese food, you’ll find them in Singapore!
Most large cities have zoos, but have you ever been to a zoo at night When you are in Singapore, don’t miss going to the Night Safari. It might seem strange to go to a zoo when it’s dark. But if you’ve ever been to a zoo during the daytime, you might understand why this zoo is so special. A lot of animals only wake up at night, so this is the best time to watch them. If you go to see lions, tigers, or foxes during the daytime, they Ill probably be asleep! At the Night Safari, you can watch these animals in a more natural environment than a normal zoo.
One great thing about Singapore is that the temperature is almost the same all year round. This is, because the island is so close to the equator (赤道). So you can choose to go whenever you like—spring, summer, autumn, or winter! And, of course, it’s not too far from China!
31. Why is Singapore a wonderful place for Chinese travellers
A. There’s little language trouble. B. It’s a good place to try new food.

A. They need to have much money. B. They need to be brave.
C. They need to speak English. D. They need to love Western food.

C. Animals sleep in the daytime. D. Animals’ night activities can be watched.

When something said about you is true, you’ll find it will be helpful to you, Don’t shut your ears. Listen to them all, but hear the truth and do what you think is right.”

You can’t get out of stress from your life completely, but you can reduce it. Know that it takes some efforts because you may have to make changes in your lifestyle. Reducing stress requires that you know how you can deal with stress. If you know, you can change your behaviour. Try to be more confident. Also, develop a way to handle stressful situations. In this way, you won’t be caught off guard (措手不及). Here are some helpful tips :
Add healthy food and exercise
When your body is healthy, it can stand up to stress. Keep your body strong with healthy food. A low fat diet helps slow the progress of some stress related diseases. Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol.
Laugh
It may be one of the healthiest ways to reduce stress. When you laugh or just smile, the blood which goes to the brain increases. And the level of stress hormones (荷尔蒙) will drop. That is the reason why the more people laugh, the fewer problems they will have.
Be social
When you feel stressed, you may tell yourself to stay alone. When you feel worried, you make yourself pay more attention to the problem, which makes your stress level higher. Call friends and be around young children who can help make you forget yourself and your worries.
Know your personality
Don’t you know how to deal with your stress properly Do you shout and kick the things around you Or do you lock yourself in the room for a long time and keep silent Keep a stress diary for two weeks. Make a note of any stress, the time, the place, how you feel and what you do as a result. By knowing your own personality, you can learn to deal with your stress more easily before you reach the bad feeling.

Are you the only child in your family Have you heard of the “two child policy” or “three child policy” Everyone knows the one child policy. It was a population control method in our country. The Chinese government wanted to control the increasing population at that time. Many Chinese couples understood that and followed the policy for nearly 40 years.
However, as time goes by, some problems appear in our society. At present, these problems are mainly about:

Beijing opera has a history of more than 200 years. It was included on UNESCO’s World Intangible Cultural Heritage List (联合国教科文组织非物质文化遗产名录) in 2010.
Beijing opera mixes different art forms, including singing, dancing, acrobatics (杂技) and martial arts (武术). All these art forms are put into one performance. Facial painting (脸谱) is one of the most important signs of Beijing opera.
Beijing opera is a kind of ancient Chinese art. But few of today’s young people know much about it. Famous Beijing opera artist Wang Peiyu, 43 years old, wants more young people to fall in love with the art.
Wang hosted (主持) a weekly talk show called The Wang Peiyu Beijing Opera Show. It started to show on iQIYI on March 27th, 2020.
On the show, Wang explained Beijing opera through different subjects, such as how to prepare for a show, or something interesting about the art. She explained how to put on clothing and make up. Artists often spend much money on their clothing. It’s said that a set of clothing worn by Beijing opera master Mei Lanfang once cost about 70,000 silver dollars. This would be 3.5 million yuan in today’s money.
To make everything easy to understand, she used simple language. She tried to use modern slang (现代俚语), such as “freestyle” and zihei, or zichao.
Wang’s show has become popular. “It gives a simple starting point for all of us, whether you know Beijing opera or not,” a fan wrote after watching the show.

Learning from mistakes
Once I went to my friend’s party. When I got there in fancy dress, it turned out that it was an outdoor party. Everyone else was in a T-shirt and jeans. What’s worse. I was supposed to arrive at 7:30. But I was 30minutes late. I was so embarrassed that I wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out! I said sorry to my friend, and I promised I would never be late again. And then. I hurried back to get the clothes changed.
This is a mistake that I cannot forget. It keeps reminding me that I should get to know the plan of parties or other situations in advance. For us, mistakes are the things that help us learn lessons and form a better sense of judgement. We need to learn from our mistakes so that we do not run the risk of repeating them. I believe we will be better if we truly learn from our mistakes.
