第一节 (共 10 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 25 分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C 和 D)中,选出最佳选项。
A
Summer camps for teenagers
There are many types of summer camps for teenagers to attend. They’re a great way for teens
to make friends and learn valuable lessons about life. If you’re seeking a good summer camp to
attend, the first thing you should do is decide what type of camp would be most suitable to your
interests and goals.
Traditional camps
When you just want the sort of camp in classic films, a traditional overnight camp might be
just what you need to grow, learn, and relax this coming summer. These sorts of camps offer more
vigorous outdoors activities, yet often allow campers to customize their camping experiences.
Chewonki Camp
As one of the best summer camps in the country by Boston Magazine, this camp aims to help
teens learn about natural history and ecology, and the campers get treats like sailing trips and
hiking excursions, besides formal instruction in such things as kayaking, swimming, field sports,
and photography.
Camp Wicosuta
As a top-rated, traditional four-week sleep away camp especially for young ladies, Camp
Wicosuta has more than 30 different activities to help teens learn to cook and wash for themselves,
which aim to help young girls focus on building their self-confidence.
Academic camps
Many teens like to advance their education during the summer months while also having
fun. There are hundreds of academic camps for them to choose from that specialize in various
academic subjects like journalism, languages, law, computers, and sciences.
( ) 21. You should decide what camp to attend according to ______.
A. camping time and place B. personal interests and goals
C. items and activities D. your values and customs
( ) 22. Which can be the most suitable for a person who likes sailing and hiking
A. Traditional camps. B. Academic camps.
C. Camp Wicosuta. D. Chewonki Camp.
( ) 23. What is the purpose of the activities that teach teens to cook for themselves
A. To help girls build self-confidence. B. To help girls learn practical skills.
C. To let teens learn and get relaxed. D. To make teens focus on science.
B
It is not unusual at all for teens to answer their parents with one-word answers. “Where are you
going ” “Places.” “When will you be back ” “Sometime.” “Who will you be with ” “People.”
That means the days of your children being restricted in the front door with the details of their
- 3 -
译林社数字化助教资源库·《英语》(必修·第一册)Unit 2 测试卷
day are over. They are breaking away from you so that they’ll be able to stand on their own as a
young adult.
Some parents feel sad about this loss of their children’s closeness. Of course you miss those
conversations and friendly talks. Once your children move out after high school and establish
themselves confidently as a young adult, they’ll come back for easy conversations and even ask
for advice. But in order to determine who they are right now, they need to separate from you.
Your job, however, is to keep them safe—and that requires knowing where they are and who
they are with. Let them know clearly that it’s not because you want to dominate ( 支配 ) their life
and control them; it’s because it’s a safety issue for family members to keep track of one another.
When they’re at home and sit down to eat a meal, sit down with them. You need to open up to
them about your life. Tell them of an interesting incident at the office, let them in on a bit of family
gossip ( 闲谈 ), discuss a piece of news with them. They are glad that you see them as old enough
to be in on a few experiences of your life. By letting a teen in on your life, they just may let you in
on theirs.
( ) 24. The author believes that teens’ one-word answers show ______.
A. an unpleasant parent-child relationship
B. their physical and mental hurt
C. their awareness of independence
D. their wishes for keeping silent
( ) 25. What’s the main idea of the last paragraph
A. Parents should understand their children.
B. Parents should keep their children safe.
C. Parents should give their children enough freedom.
D. Parents should open their hearts to their children.
( ) 26. What’s the author’s purpose of writing the passage
A. To give parents advice. B. To guide teenagers.
C. To present information. D. To comfort parents.
C
When I was growing up, I was a teenager no one listened to—and I grew sick of it. So, I’m
here to let America know that the future of our country, those kids you’ve raised and sent through
high school, the ones you thought were so easy to control, are strong and we want to be heard.
Many people throughout my life told me to shut up or mind my own business when I tried to
express my opinion on politics, the death sentence or other issues. What I have come to realize
is that I have just the same right as anyone to say how I feel about whatever topic I choose. I no
longer believe that I should just follow the crowd. I am ready to make a stand and shout out to the
whole world what my opinions are.
I believe that teenagers have every right to speak about the government. I do not think that I
am less informed than the next person. I know that if I don’t speak my mind, I will not be true to
my nature.
I was raised in a family where politics were always discussed and debated. Many times my
parents and I argued for half the night over the same problems the Supreme Court deals with. It
was in this climate that I started to form my opinions about the government. I learned that my
opinions mattered.
- 4 -
译林社数字化助教资源库·《英语》(必修·第一册)Unit 2 测试卷
So why does it continuously seem as if teenagers are unimportant
Unfortunately, I know the answer. I know that the government is not looking far enough into
the future. I am not viewed as a future president, a future CEO or a future revolutionary ( 改革
者 ). All I am to them is a loud, unpleasant teenager. I think it is time that we were heard for more
than what we are thought to be. It is time for me to be known for my knowledge, my interest and
my ability to lead.
So, America, were you all not in my place once, with no power to speak and be heard Isn’t it
time for the future of America to begin voicing our opinions about important matters
I believe it is. I believe in so much more than freedom of speech. I believe in the power of the
future America, and I believe that it is time we all take a stand. I believe in us.
( ) 27. What does the word “climate” refer to
A. a weather condition of an area
B. an atmosphere that exists
C. a political problem discussed
D. a special situation where arguments happen
( ) 28. Why hasn’t the government listened to teenagers’ opinions according to the passage
A. They fail to take teenagers opinions seriously.
B. Teenagers know nothing about future.
C. Teenagers’ opinions are generally meaningless.
D. Political matters are too serious for teenagers.
( ) 29. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Teenagers have rights to voice their opinions.
B. Political matters are part of teenagers’ life.
C. No one would like to listen to teenagers.
D. It’s hard for teenagers to have political opinions.
( ) 30. The author writes the passage intending to ________.
A. provide typical examples B. voice his opinion
C. present different opinions D. give a warning

“I can’t wait until we get to Aunt Marta’s!” Linda cried out to her older brother Eduardo as
they packed the car for their trip.
“Me, either,” Eduardo said. “I wish this old car could fly. I hope Aunt Marta will let us ride
the horses tomorrow. Of course, you don’t have to ride if you don’t want to, Sis. I know you’re
probably still too scared.”
“I am not!” Linda complained. However, Linda knew she hadn’t been able to gather the
courage to get on a horse again since the accident last summer. Her fall had been so bad that Linda
was still afraid to difficult things.
“Well, let’s get going. We want to be there before dark,” Eduardo said as he started the car.
When Linda and Eduardo arrived, Aunt Marta served them some hot, thick soup. Linda was
in bed and sound asleep under one of Aunt Marta’s handmade quilts by 10:00 p.m. A few hours
later she awoke suddenly when she heard a loud noise outside, followed by a low moaning sound.
Linda tiptoed into the room where Eduardo was sleeping.
“Eduardo,” she whispered, “wake up! I heard a strange noise outside.”
Eduardo sat up in bed and listened. He could hear something, too. “We should go,” Linda said,
trying to sound brave.
“You’re probably right,” Eduardo said.
Linda and Eduardo went quietly down the stairs and onto the front porch ( 走廊 ). From there
they could hear the moaning even louder than before. Linda looked out from behind Eduardo and
saw a huge white shape moving in the dark.

第一节
Gambling teens often become withdrawn and anxious, their grades drop and unexplained
absences increase. Parents and educators should notice any teens that flash too large amounts
of cash or frequently borrow money. Pay attention if you see an increase in phone calls from
strangers or late-night conversations. Address these changes immediately.
Be more watchful in a family with a history of gambling problems. Knowing there’s a
tendency towards gambling addiction should give parents the edge in keeping their teens out of
trouble.
If your teenager has a credit card, study their bills. Question any large amounts, particularly
if your teen owes them to an Internet company. Any cash advances should be red flags. If you
discover that your teen is using a credit card to finance a gambling habit, cancel the card.
第二节
Paragraph 1:
Then, with a loud moan, the object bolted halfway across the yard towards the porch steps.
With that Eduardo disappeared into the house, closing the door behind him. Linda desperately
wanted to follow her brother into the house, but she stood frozen with fear. Then, with a sudden
burst of courage, Linda walked down the porch steps.
“Moo,” it said. Linda broke into a laugh.
“Hello,” she answered.
At that moment Aunt Marta stepped out onto the porch, followed closely by Eduardo. “Oh,
Linda,” Aunt Marta said, hugging her. “I see you’ve met Silver, my young cow.” The cow stood
right next to Linda.
Paragraph 2:
“Why didn’t you go back in the house when I did ” Eduardo asked Linda. “I was too curious,”
Linda answered.
“Come on, you two,” Aunt Marta said. “Eduardo needs to get some rest so that he can ride
horses in the morning.”
“Linda can watch me,” Eduardo said.
“Forget about watching. I’ll be riding the horse in front of you!” Linda said, laughing.

W: Terrible. I’m really unhappy at Pat, the house owner. When I came home yesterday, the front
door was wide open; the cat was hiding in the closet, and there was Pat. He came to change the
pipe, but he didn’t even tell me that he was coming. He does this all the time. Last month, one
day I was throwing a dinner party for eight people. When I went out for a minute to buy some
wine, Pat came to repair the broken light in my bedroom. I nearly had a heart attack when I

W: You see it’s this: someone told me that people in Ola look down upon people from other
places. Is this true
M: Oh, yes. Some people do. I hate this kind of attitude, but I’m sure not everyone in Ola is like
that. Do you look down upon others in the class
W: Of course not! I often help them. And I’ve learned a lot from the people coming from other
places. They are all hard-working. Most of them are talented.

more pleasant.
First of all, according to the weather forecast in Nanjing, the weather will be very changeable
in the following days with temperatures between 15℃ and 30℃ . Therefore, you need to bring
some coats to avoid getting a cold. Second, as for food, we mainly eat all kinds of wheat-flour
products and rice. Of course fresh fruit, vegetables and all kinds of meat are also available. Third,
you may find teachers here talk more in class. You have to get used to longer school hours. Finally,
try to make more friends so that you will not feel lonely or homesick. Remember, whatever
problems you have, we are all willing to help.
