Mark Zuckerberg, who starts the social network Facebook, often wears jeans and a T-shirt to work, including to important business meetings. Not everyone agrees with him. Some people say he doesn’t look serious this way.
Harvard Business School researcher, Francesca Gino, has a different idea. While most people seem to think that dressing differently from those around you generally has a bad influence, she believes it can actually have a positive (积极的) effect. And she’s done experiments to support her idea. When her researchers, wearing sportswear, visited the expensive shops in Italy, they were usually viewed as wealthier and more important people than those who were well-dressed in designer clothes.
Do people always view less formal (正式的) clothing, more positively Researchers in France took their research out into the street, to the general public. The video they made shows an actor dressed in a well-cut suit and shiny shoes. While walking along the road, he begins to cough badly, stops to catch his breath and falls down. Before he even calls for help, people rush to help him. In another video, the actor appears at the same crowded place and repeats the actions in exactly the same way. But this time, no one comes to help. What’s the difference He’s wearing untidy clothes and looks like a homeless person. In a situation like this, the clothes you re wearing could mean the difference between life and death.
It seems that our clothing doesn’t only change the way others view us, but also the way we see ourselves. In an experiment testing students’ ability to pay attention to details (细节), the group wearing white lab coats did the best. Why Researchers told them that they were wearing the doctors’ coats. The experiment didn’t show whether such influences would last long. More experiments are needed in the future before we decide to make the doctors’ coats a must of fashion.

Jane Austen ever popular
This summer, the UK will honor its favorite writers, Jane Austen (1775-1817), by making her the face of the new 10 note. In the 200 years since her death, Austen has been getting more and more popular all over the world.
And yet Austen’s works are so English that it’s rather strange she should be so popular all over the world. Her novels are so of their time that it’s strange that she’s still enjoyed in this very different age. Her most famous works including Pride and Prejudice, the one which she, is most known for are about the world of the English gentry (贵族阶层) in the late 18th century.
Most of her works is about young women of that time. Women of the gentry could not work so their chances of happiness or even basic living depended upon finding a husband. This is a very serious subject matter, of course, but the joy of Austen’s stories is her ability to make wonderful, but also touching, comedy out of something so serious.
Take Pride and Prejudice as an example. Elizabeth Bennet is one of six daughters in a family that struggles with money problems. Her mother wants to marry off as many of them as possible. Mrs Bennet is one of the great comic characters of English literature.
The novel is developed by the love-hate relationship between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. The pleasure of the novel is reading how these obstacles (障碍) are overcome and how the comical and unexpected ending is achieved.
If we think about this story, it’s clear why Jane Austen is still popular 200 years after her death, and why readers can still identify with characters from the long dead world of the 18th century English gentry. Although there have been many changes since that time, it’s still the greatest challenge in life for men and women to find the partner of their dreams.

When most people think of the word “beautiful”, they think of movie stars. I used to be one of them. But now my view of beauty has completely changed.
I was with my parents and little brothers at the McDonald's. Since there are only tables with four chairs, I'm always the one to sit at a nearby table by myself. Usually, I'm a little unhappy, but not this time.
A woman was sitting at a table, two tables away. She was young and pretty, not the traditional beauty, but a warm one. She had thick dark-brown hair and wore common clothes, but none of these was why she was so beautiful to me.
Her children spread ice cream all over their clothes, but she just kissed their noses, ice cream and that's all. She didn't get angry. The love and warmth this woman generated(产生) completely changed my view of beauty. She generated warmth like the sun, and her children were little planets around her.
She made a difference in her children's lives. Instead of making them feel bad about themselves, she made them feel great about everything. That is true beauty: to make a positive difference to others' lives through warmth and caring.
