(1)本句为强调句,强调句子的主语“their similarities”。
(2)强调句型的基本结构为:It is/was+被强调的部分+that/who+句子其他部分。可对句子的主语、表语、宾语、状语等进行强调。当被强调部分是人,且作主语时,可用who或that,其他情况下一律用that。

(3)强调状语

(1)强调时间/地点/原因/方式状语时,用that,不能用when, where, why或how。
(2)强调原因状语,只能because引导,不能是since, as或why引导的从句。
(3)对not...until...强调时,要用It is/was not until...that...这一固定句型。
(4)强调主语时,that、who后的动词的人称和数的变化与前面被强调的名词或代词一致。
