The teaching material is the reading part of section A in unit 6. The unit consists of many stories. This passage about the Monkey King will arouse the students’ interest in reading and telling stories. With the interest they will get some reading skills to improve their reading ability.

Revision and warming up: Let students role-play the conversation in groups and check their homework.

1.Skimming : Read the whole passage paragraph by paragraph and find out what the main idea is .
2.Scanning : Read the passage sentence by sentence and answer the three questions.
3.Careful reading :
①Read the passage word by word and write T or F .
② Read the second paragraph word by word and fill in the chart.
③ Read the passage word by word and fill in the blanks.
