Do video games do harm to our children Today, many children spend a lot of their free time playing games on the Internet. In the UK, 99% of kids aged 8 to 15 play video games every week. This information tells us that the benefits and dangers of video games must be carefully considered.
For many people, video games are fun. They have bright lights, funny cartoons and exciting stories. Everywhere you look, you can see children playing these games. They play on buses and trains, in restaurants and even at school.
Video games are educational too. They make kids think in a creative way and they have to move their hands and eyes quickly. This can improve the way that a child's brain works. What's more, video games make children use their imagination. The player has to do many creative things, like drawing, telling stories and building things. Video games are also a good way to teach children about technology because they can learn how computers and other devices work while they play.
However, a recent study suggests that video games can also be bad for children. First, children can download many games for free. This means that parents often don't know if their children are playing violent or scary games. Second, many children spend too much time playing games on computers and this can lead to health problems. Third, if children spend too much time playing games instead of doing homework, they can have problems at school and get bad grades. Finally, video games can affect children's social skills. If children spend too much time playing video games by themselves, they might not learn how to play with their friends.
In conclusion, it seems clear that video games have some advantages and some disadvantages. It is up to parents to know what games their children are playing and how much time they spend on them. Parents should also make sure their children get enough exercise and spend time with other children.

We often hear the phrase “climate(气候) change” on the news, but do you know how it has changed our life and planet
Over the past hundred years, our world has changed greatly. That human needs for energy, manufacture(人造的) goods, transport and animal products have increased carbon emissions(二氧化碳排放) from 2 billion tonnes per year in 1900 to 36 billion tonnes now. In other words, the growth of population and wealth has caused many problems to our planet—sea level has risen 15cm over the past century; the Amazon rainforest has been cut by 17% in the last 50 years; 60% of all animals have been killed since the 1970s.
Because of global temperature change, Earth's oceans and land have always warmed;animals and ecosystems can't keep up with the new rate of change, which forces some animals and plants into extinction.
Unless we change our habits, our future in a hundred years' time couldn't be hopeful. To solve the problem, governments around the world should do many things—stopping the use of fossil fuels(化石燃料) by replacing them with renewable energy, supporting green farming, and reducing population growth. As for each of us, we should choose green public transportation as much as possible, eating fewer animal products, and reducing water waste and food waste. It's our duty to protect our earth.

Live streaming(直播) has become very popular in China. Viewers can communicate with hosts by messaging them, buying them gifts, or sending them tips(小费).
However, some children are spending too much money on live stream platforms(平台). Earlier this year, a 17 year old boy in Jingmen, Hubei province, sent tips that added up to 150, 000 yuan to a host. That sum of money was his parents' life savings.
To prevent things like this from happening again, the National Radio and Television Administration introduced a new rule on Nov.23 to better manage live streaming services.
The rule bans children from tipping or sending gifts to live stream hosts and performers. It also requires people to register(注册) on live streaming sites with their real names.
“Online shows and live streaming have become so popular. I always feel worried that my son might become addicted(上瘾的) to them or do something that is harmful to his growth,” said Wang Haifeng, a mother of a 15 year old boy in Beijing, “Stricter management makes me feel safer.”
In addition to the rules, there are some other rules that will be put in place to help manage live streaming services.
For example, live streaming platforms will be required to put a limit on how much money people can send to live streamers. Once the limit is reached, viewers will not be able to send gifts or tips.
Other rules include stopping live streaming platforms from encouraging viewers to send gifts or tips. Any host who is found doing this will be added to a blacklist.

Some children cannot wait to grow up.Because once you become an adult, you are free to make your own decisions. More importantly, you can do all those things that you cannot do now because you are too young. Well, people become adults at different ages in different places.
In Australia, the 18th birthday is an important event for young Australians because it means they can do almost anything they want. They can vote(选举), learn to drive a car, get married and so on. Even if they can do all these things, most Australians have to wait until their 21st birthday to really celebrate becoming an adult. This is the traditional adult age in Australia, the USA and the UK.
Even though 21 is the traditional adult age in many English speaking countries, the law nowadays is different in each country. In the UK, you can join the army at 16 and even get married at 16 if your parents allow.

Named after the “quest for heavenly truth”, Tianwen 1, China's first Mars probe(探测器), has given us impressive pictures of the red planet. The first high resolution(高分辨率的) pictures of Mars taken by Tianwen 1 were made public by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) on March 4.
“These are the first close up pictures of Mars' surface taken by China,” said Bao Weimin, a scientist of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The pictures were taken at different distances from Mars. The two black and white pictures were taken by the high resolution camera on Tianwen 1 when the probe was about 330-350 kilometers above the Martian surface. As for the color picture, it was taken by Tianwen 1's medium resolution(中分辨率的) camera when the probe was about 5,000 kilometers above the red planet. It shows Mars' North Pole.
The high resolution camera can take both color and panchromatic(全色的) pictures. Panchromatic pictures, which are black and white, are the clearest, having the largest amount of data for scientific study, said Liu Tongjie. The medium resolution camera, can only produce lesser clear pictures. Scientists put the panchromatic and color pictures together to form a clear and beautiful color picture, Liu added.
Tianwen 1, the country's first independent Mars task, was sent up on July 23, kicking off the nation's planetary exploration program. The probe entered its preset orbit above Mars on Feb 24 and is looking for a landing site on the planet's largest plain. The probe is expected to land on the red planet sometime between May and June.

You may study differently from your friends, but your study habits are not wrong!
Kelly and Maria are best friends with a lot in common. They love doing things together, such as going to movies and concerts, shopping, or just sitting at a small café. Since they take a lot of the same school subjects, they would love to study together, but they find this impossible. Their working styles are so completely different that they can't be in the same room while they are studying!
Kelly would like to study in a clean, open space, while Maria works best with books, papers and other things around her. Kelly prefers to study in a totally silent room, but Maria loves to play music or even have the TV on. Kelly can sit for hours without moving, and often gets all her homework done in one sitting. Maria, however, is always getting up, and says that she thinks best when she's on the move.
You might be asking yourself: which way of studying gets better results Many people believe that a silent and tidy setting(环境) is the way to go, ________. Some research has even shown that outside noise and untidiness help some people focus(聚焦) their attention because it makes them form a “wall” in their mind around what they are doing and improves their focus.
So, if you're a student who chooses to study while sitting at a table at a busy shopping center, don't worry about it. If you work in total silence, that's OK, too. Judging from Kelly's and Maria's study habits, the best way to study is the way that works for you. ①When scientists go to a forest to study monkeys and their habits, how do they know who's who
②In the past, scientists had to make marks on each of the animals to tell them from each other. But now there is a much easier way thanks to facial recognition technology(人脸识别科技).
③A research team from China's Northwest University is using facial recognition technology to identify(识别) thousands of snub nosed monkeys(金丝猴) that live on Qinling Mountain in Shaanxi province.
④Similar to human facial recognition, the technology that is used to identify monkeys uses their facial features to create a database(数据库) that includes every monkey, Xinhua reported.
⑤“When the system is fully developed, we can connect it with cameras set up in the mountains. The system will recognize the monkeys, name them and record their habits,” said Zhang He, a member of the research team.
⑥“For each snub nosed monkey, we have 700 to 800 image pictures, and the recognition result is 94 percent right,” Zhang added.
⑦“We used mobile phones and small cameras with the monkeys in tests about 3 to 10 meters away from them,” said He Gang, another member of the research team.“There is no need to interfere__with the life of the monkeys.”
⑧Compared to humans, facial recognition technology for monkeys is more difficult because of their hairier(多毛的) faces. The color of their hair causes them to hide in their environment. These make it harder for computers to identify them.
⑨“It is also difficult to take clear pictures and videos of them because the monkeys are much more lively than humans, so we need to improve the system,” said Li Baoguo, the leader of the research team.
Although meeting many difficulties, scientists believe, with the development of the facial recognition technology, they will successfully identify every monkey in the near future.
1. While studying monkeys, scientists face the problem of ________.
A. how to mark them
B. how to get closer to them
C. how to understand their habits
D. how to tell them from each other
2. Which of the following is TRUE about facial recognition technology for monkeys
A. It is now widely used in China.
B. It can help scientists study monkeys.
C. It works better than human facial recognition.
D. It will use monkeys' habits to create a database.
3. The underlined phrase“interfere with” in Paragraph 7 means “________” in Chinese.
A. 侵害 B. 妨碍 C. 弄坏 D. 维护
4. The best structure of the article may be ________.(P=Paragraph)

What do you know about the Moon When it's full, do you see a man in the Moon Have you ever hear that the Moon is made of cheese
The Moon revolves(旋转) around the Earth. It takes about one month for it to make the trip around our planet. When it begins its trip around the Earth, it is called a new moon. A new moon is almost invisible(看不见). In the middle of its trip, we can see a full moon. A full moon is a bright circle of light.
Scientists once wrongly believed the Moon split(分裂) off from the Earth. Now they know that Earth crashed into some objects long ago. From the broken bits of these objects, the Moon formed.
Do you know that the Moon is covered with craters(坑) Its surface seems that it has been covered with huge knitting needles! The smallest craters are as tiny as the tip of a knife. The largest craters are as wide as the United States!
Do you know that the Moon is the only place in space that humans have visited The first rocket went to the Moon in 1959. It took pictures of the backside of the Moon. Humans did not set foot on the Moon until 1969. We collected rock and soil samples to study. Since then, people have gone to the Moon many times. From these trips, we now know more about the Moon.
We can use what we have known about the Moon to make a place for humans to live there. Just think, maybe your children or their children will live on the Moon some day!
