Life is like baking a cake
An hour in the morning is worth two in the evening.
Lucy comes back from school. She doesn’t look happy. Her grandma asks, “What’s wrong, my girl!”
“Everything is wrong. The new school is far from home. I don’t have any friends at the new school. I can’t answer the teachers’ questions in class. I don’t like the school lunch,” the girl answers.
Grandma smiles and says,
“Don’t be sad, my girl. Would
you like something to eat ”
“Good. What can I have ”
Lucy becomes happy.
“Here, have some cooking oil.”
“No. I can’t eat that.”
“What about some raw eggs ”
“No. Nobody eats raw eggs.”
“Would you like some flour then ”
“Grandma, I can’t eat these things.”
“Then what about a cake ”
“Good. I like that.”
“Maybe these foods are not delicious to you. But when you put them together in the right way and bake them,
they will make a wonderful
cake! Life is just like
baking a cake.”
Task 1: Read the passage aloud to show Lucy’s feelings .
Task 2: List the food we need when we make a cake.

Jenny: That’s true.
Danny: To tell you the truth, I decided to change my eating habits. Yesterday evening, I ate ten donuts as usual. My uncle said to me, “You shouldn’t eat so many donuts. It’s not good for your health. Do you know the saying: You are what you eat ” Later that night, I had a dream.

Keep yourself Healthy
A healthy lifestyle is important. The tips below can help you be healthy and happy.
Eating better
Start the day with a healthy breakfast. It gives energy for the whole morning.
Take time to eat and chew slowly. It takes about 20 minutes for the brain to tell the body that you are full.
Eat more vegetables and fresh fruits. Try to eat 2 cups of fruit and 2.5 cups of vegetables each day.
Eat more whole grains, like oats, brown rice, and whole-wheat pasta.
Drink enough fluids, like water, low fat or nonfat milk, and low-calorie drinks.
Being more active
Try to exercise for 30 to 60 minutes every day.
Walk with your parents before or after meals.
Be active in the home. For example, you can dust, vacuum, garden, or walk the dog. These activities are good ways to burn calories.
Task 1: Which of the following would the writer most likely agree with
A. Having more donuts for breakfast.
B. Eat as quickly as you can.
C. Drinking enough water.
D. Doing some homework.
E. Going hiking or biking during your holiday.
F. Manage time on TV and computer.
Do activities, such as hiking or biking, when you go on holiday.
Limit TV, computer, and video game time to less than one hour per day.
You can slowly improve your lifestyle in a step-by-step way. If you take one new healthy step every two months, for example, in two to three years, you will be a healthier person.
