Teaching aims:
1.学习策略: Get the general idea by looking at the title and picture of the passage and master the reading strategies—skimming and scanning.(通过标题和插图获取文章大意,训练略读和快读技巧)掌握运用阅读技巧skimming和scanning来获取信息;
2. 语言功能:Talk about past events; retell the text.(能讲述过去发生的事情;能叙述课文。)能够理解过去进行时态在文章中的运用。
3.语言知识目标:
1) the students can use the “when/ while”.
2)Get the students to learn the words and phrases: storm, wind, light, area, window, match, against, rise….fall asleep, in a mess, die down, break … apart,
3)The students will be able to use the sentence structure:It’s hard to …. With no light outside, it felt like midnight.
4)Try to find necessary information through fast reading.
5)Students can talk about past events and tell a story with the language chunks.

1. With no light outside, it felt like midnight.外面没有一丝光亮,让人感觉这是在午夜。
She can see stars in the dark sky with the window open.
but it was hard to have fun with a serious storm happening outside.

仔细观察上面的句子,不难得出,都含有with+宾语+宾语补足语构成,介词此处表示一种伴随状况,它还包含着某种因果关系,可译成“由于,因为”。作宾语补足语的可以是________词,_________词, ________ 词及_________短语,不定时等。

结论归纳:
(1)beat作不及物动词, 意为“敲打”, 常表示“(_______)吹, (______)打; (太阳等)猛烈地照射, 直射; (波浪等)冲击”, 通常与介词_________或on连用,如:例句①。
(2)beat作及物动词, 意为“打败”, 宾语为比赛、竞争的对手, 即指人或团队的名词或代词。后接+_______/某队(某人还是某事?),beat过去式为_________.如:例句②④。
(3)win 意为“赢,赢得(比赛、战争或辩论等)”+_______(某队,某人还是某事?), 过去式为____.其宾语是比赛、战争、奖品等名词, 即race, match, competition之类的词。如例句③⑤。

(5 )against介词, 倚;碰;撞

rise和raise都有“增加;提高;增强;上升,升起”意思。
仔细观察下面例句:

④The river rose a lot because of the heavy rain.大雨过后,河水上涨了许多。【图解助记】
结论:raise是及物动词,后面必须有宾语,就是“_____________”( 是“某人把某物举起来”,还是“某人、某物自己升起来” )。(如:例①②)
raise 有以下几种 含义。①筹集;筹募 raise money for… 为……筹集资金②抬高;举起 raise one’s hand/head 举起手/抬起头③抚养;饲养 raise animals 养动物
rise是不及物动词,后面不能加宾语,常用来表示日、月、星、雾等的升起; 河水、物价等的上涨。也就是说“_______________( 是“某人把某物举起来”,还是“某人、某物自己升起来” )。(如:例3.4)
