Ⅰ. Teaching objectives

Ⅱ.Teaching model
Considering from both the text and students ability, I’ll take the PWP model, known as pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading .
In the pre-reading part, two things are to be emphasized:
1. To activate previous knowledge about the passage
2. To stimulate students’ curiosity about the passage thus form reading expectations
In the while-reading part:
1. To teach the key words and phrases
2. To guide the students to get the main idea through skimming, scanning and making notes
3. To guide the students to retell the passage with a mind map
In the post-reading part:
1. To analyze the text type of the passage
2. To analyze the structure of the passage thus to guide students learn to write about a place.
3. To summarize a new Writing Structure based on the passage (take Kunming as an example)
4. To present a micro video (微视频) about the introduction of Kunming, the step is to show the Ss how to use the sentence patterns we have learned in real writing
I’ll organize the whole class through activities like self learning, group communication, class discussion to highlight the teacher’s facilitating role and the students’ dominating role
Ⅱ.Teaching procedures
1. Pre-reading
In the pre-reading part, I’ll focus on the key words of the title-Never Forget, then ask Ss
T: What kind of place will make you Never Forget
Ss: It may have---(delicious food, friendly people, pleasant weather---)
Purpose:
The purpose of the step is to activate the students' previous knowledge about Singapore and help them get into the theme quickly, and guiding the Ss to predict can help develop their imagination and stimulate their curiosity, thus form reading expectations
2. While-reading
1>.In the while-reading part, the first step is skimming
I’ll ask the Ss go through the passage quickly, check the four things that are mentioned in the
passage.
Purpose:
The step can guide the students to get the main idea of the story quickly, and through comparison before and after reading, students are able to communicate with the author in the reading process, that makes reading an positive behavior.
2>. In the while-reading part, the second step is scanning.
Para 1 Language
I’ll ask Ss to read Para 1 again, then fill in the blanks with the words or phrases from the passage.

Purpose:
The purpose of this step is to help Ss further understand the passage through different ways, thus preparing for output---writing
3>. In the while-reading part, the third step is summarizing.
Reading Strategy : Making Notes
After reading, tell Ss to write down three or more things they have learned,it can help them remember
things better, drawing a mind map is a good choice
Ask Ss to complete the mind map with their books closed.
Purpose:
The usage of a mind map is to connect all the information into a logical structure, so that students can understand the topic as a whole, thus preparing for output---writing
5. Post-reading
After first reading and second reading, the students may have an understanding of the story, I’ll introduce the text type(体裁)by doing multiple choice

The purpose of this step is to show the Ss how to utilize the sentence patterns we have leaned in real writing, and the usage of the Micro Video can make our teaching more vividly.
