Teaching aims:

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warm up
Ask students: What do you usually do in the morning before school Show some pictures to help students answer.
Then show some pictures of Tina’s morning and ask :What happened to her Students describe every picture .Help students to answer: By the time she got outside, the bus had already left. Explain: by the time
Step2 Presentation
1. Teach past perfect tense. Show some examples to help students understand past perfect tense.
2. Practice the use of past perfect tense by doing some exercises .
3. Teach activity 1b.
Play the tape, students listen and write down the words they hear in the blanks. After students complete the sentences, check the answers together.
4. Teach activity 1c.
Read the instruction and the sample conversation. Then lead students to talk about what happened to Mary using the sentences in 2b
Step3 practice
1.Listen to the tape for the first time and finish 2a.
Listen to Mary continue her story. Number the pictures [1-4] in the correct order and check the answers.
2.Listen to the tape for the second time and finish 2b.
Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. Then listen again and ask students check the answers.
3.Talk about what happened to Mary in the morning.
Step4 Consolidation
Teach activity 2d.
1. teacher ask: “ Was Kevin late for class ” then ask students to listen to 2d and find the answer.
2. Read .Ask students to read the conversation by themselves. Then read the conversation together.
3. Explain the language points.

4. Ask students to practice the conversation in 2d, then role-play the conversation .
