Step 1.Revision
Get Ss to talk about the pollution around us and come up with some ways to cut down the pollution.(Purpose: Revise what they learned in the last period)
Step 2.Lead-in
T:Besides the pollution, there are also some endangered animals.
Show some pictures of sharks on the screen, and ask Ss to think over the following questions:
(1) What do you know about sharks
(2) Do you know sharks can be endangered Why
(3) What do you think might cause a fall in the number of sharks
At the same time, teach the new words.

Step 3.Reading
Fast reading
Ss read through the passage, and find out the main idea of each paragraph.
(Purpose: Get to know the main idea of the passage)
Careful reading
Read each paragraph carefully, and judge the sentences.(Show them on the screen)
Then let Ss read the passage by themselves,(the second paragraph is a little difficult for them,so get Ss to listen to the tape and pay attention to the pronunciation.) And invite the whole class to read the second paragraph together.
After that, ask Ss to complete the fact sheet about sharks.

Ask Ss to retell the passage according to the key words in the table.(show the words on the screen)
