1、教材分析
《Unit 14》是人教版九年级（全册）的最后一个单元。第五部分涉及到新的文体——演讲稿的学习。这是一份来自一位校长在毕业典礼上的发言稿。九年级学生即将毕业，在这样的一个时期的这样的一份发言稿，能激发学生的学习兴趣，增加了学生们对初中生活的几分留恋与追忆，与本单元的主题《I remember meeting all of you in Grade 7》紧扣。

Identify text type and purpose
三、教学重难点：
Try best to understand the speech and learn to make a speech with full feelings.
四、教学过程
1、Warm up :
Picture describing --Discussion
Describe the picture given ,talk about something about “graduate” and “ graduation”, then discuss in groups “ What is the most important thing you have learned in junior high school ”
2、Questions before reading (in groups).
(1).What kind of text is this Is it a story or a notice
(2).Who do you think wrote it
(3).Who is it for
3、Listening:
Listen to the record of the speech.
Read the speech in groups.
4、Try to recite the speech according to the words given.
( This part is a little challenging for the students. The words given are the main language points of the speech at the same time. )
5、Can you make a speech
Encourage the students to make a speech imaging that they are all at a graduation ceremony.
The speech can be short.
