The following is something about extreme sports: Dangerous as they are, extreme sports remain appealing among many Australian young people! Camp extreme sports is the perfect test of your heart.
Kite Surfing
It's the exciting mixture of kite, board and waves. The idea of using a kite to accelerate speed seems like a new challenge, yet the art of kite flying dates back to the 13th century Chinese when it was used as a simple means of transport.
Catch a wind and you're moving — up, down and across the surf. “It's always exciting. You'd jump 5 feet or 35 feet. You never know if you're going to go up in the air, and your heart is just going boom, boom, boom.”
Coasteering
It is by far the best activity and the event that everyone is still talking about. This is exploring the coastline without worrying about a coastal path or finding a rocky bay blocking your route. You climb, dive and swim from one place to another. With Coasteering, you don't have to be able to swim as the wet suit and buoyancy (浮力) aid will keep you floating when you are in the water.
Sky Diving
Traditional parachuting (跳伞) doesn't sound risky enough. So now sky diving is the name for jumping from a plane and listening to your heart beating heavily as you move fast towards earth before you open your parachute at the last moment.
Mountain Biking
It's been around so long that bikers are no longer satisfied with just going up and down a mountain. Mountain biking is a sport which consists of riding bicycles off road, often over rough land, using specially adapted mountain bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but include features designed to improve strength and performance in rough areas.

Communication is a part of our everyday life. Humans are social beings and we need to live with other people. When we communicate, we can make use of both spoken and written language. But are they enough? The answer is NO. Sometimes we have to communicate by using body movements instead of words. This is called body language.
Body language is very important in our lives for several reasons.
Firstly, it makes our communication more colourful. It's really hard to imagine a conversation without any body language involved. How dull and boring it will be to just talk without any gestures, facial expressions or any other body movements!Body language makes our talking more lively and interesting.
Secondly, it makes our communication more effective. Sometimes a gesture or a facial expression can make us more easily and quickly understood. Take a good speaker for example:his or her body movements will help him or her leave a deeper and stronger impression (印象) on listeners.
Finally, sometimes we have to use body language. On some occasions (场合), we are not allowed to speak loudly. Examples of this are in the library or in the quiet classroom. Then body language will be quite necessary. Also, when we meet someone in the street, there is no need for us to stop for a long chat, so a nod or a wave may be OK.

Maybe ten year old Elizabeth put it best when she said to her father, “But, Dad, you can't be healthy if you're dead.” Dad, in a hurry to get home before dark so he could go for a run,
had forgotten to wear his safety belt — a mistake 75% of the US population makes every day. The big question is why.
There have been many myths about safety belts ever since their first appearance in cars some forty years ago. The following are three of the most common.
Myth Number One: It's best to be “thrown clear” of a serious accident.
Truth:Sorry, but any accident serious enough to “throw you clear” is also going to be serious enough to give you a very bad landing. And chances are you'll have traveled through a windshield (挡风玻璃) or door to do it. Studies show that chances of dying after a car accident are twenty five times greater in cases where people are “thrown clear”.
Myth Number Two: Safety belts “trap” people in cars that are burning or sinking in water.
Truth:Sorry again, but studies show that people knocked unconscious due to not wearing safety belts have a greater chance of dying in these accidents. People wearing safety belts are usually protected to the point of having a clear head to free themselves from such dangerous situation, not to be trapped in them.
Myth Number Three:Safety belts aren't needed at speeds of less than 30 miles per hour(mph).
Truth:When two cars traveling at 30 mph hit each other, an unbelted driver would meet the windshield with a force equal to diving head first into the ground from a height of 10 meters.
语篇解读:75%的美国人每天开车忘记系安全带,可万一遇到车祸时,就有可能遭遇危险,甚至丧生。文章澄清了三种最常见的对系安全带的错误认识,劝告人们一定不要忘记系安全带。
5.Why did Elizabeth say to her father, “But, Dad, you can't be healthy if you're dead.”?
A.He was driving at great speed.
B.He was running across the street.
C.He didn't have his safety belt on.
D.He didn't take his medicine on time.
解析:选C 细节理解题。“Dad, in a hurry to get home before dark so he could go for a run, had forgotten to wear his safety belt ...”爸爸在天黑之前急急忙忙赶回来跑步锻炼而忘记系安全带, 因而在万一遇到车祸时,就有可能遭遇危险,甚至丧生。这就是Elizabeth这么说的原因。
6.The reason Father was in a hurry to get home was that he ________.
A.wasn't feeling very well
B.hated to drive in the dark
C.wanted to take some exercise
D.didn't want to be caught by the police
解析:选C 细节理解题。“Dad, in a hurry to get home before dark so he could go for a run ...”。so =so that, 表示目的。go for a run“去跑步”。故选C。
7.According to the text, to be “thrown clear” of a serious accident is very dangerous because you ________.
A.may be knocked down by other cars
B.may get seriously hurt being thrown out of the car
C.may find it impossible to get away from the seat
D.may get caught in the car door
解析:选B 推理判断题。may get seriously hurt being thrown out of the car=may get seriously hurt when you are being thrown out of the car,故选B。
8.Some people prefer to drive without wearing a safety belt because they believe ________.
A.the belt prevents them from escaping in an accident
B.they will be unable to think clearly in an accident
C.they will be caught when help comes
D.cars catch fire easily

People can communicate with one another not only through verbal communication but also through nonverbal communication;moreover, the latter plays an important role.
Usually body language occurs unconsciously. Yet the body language we use decides to a large extent the quality of our communication. It follows that therefore it would be good to become conscious of our own and others' body language. We can learn to use our body language for a purpose. It is important to note that body language has different meanings in different cultures. How we can interpret body language depends on the situation, the culture, the relationship we have with the person as well as the gender (性别) of the other. This means that there is not one signal that has the same meaning all over the world. Body language is also interlinked with spoken language and a whole pattern of behavior from a person. As well as that, various body language signs can combine each other to make a particular meaning clear or strengthen the meaning of what we communicate.
Body language is known as nonverbal behavior which conveys (传递) information through gestures, actions and facial expressions. People communicate with each other by their body language in the ways of nodding, waving, eye contacting, shrugging and so on. According to the research results of psychologists, these ways can express what the verbal language cannot directly.
How we get across to someone is decided only for a small part by the words we speak. The person on the receiving end of our body language will have a feeling or impression that is often difficult to describe, difficult to put into words or difficult to prove what actually was communicated. Haven't we all said at times, “I have a feeling he/she likes me”, or something like, “I doubt if what he/she is saying is really the truth”.This type of feeling is called intuition (直觉). Body language plays a big role in intuition as it gives us messages about the other person that we can interpret at an intuitive level. It is therefore necessary to get to know our own body language first. We should learn about it so that we can recognize it in others as well as in ourselves.

It was a cloudy day on November 11, 2015. We walked in so quietly that the nurse at the desk didn't even lift her eyes from the book. Mum pointed at a big chair by the door and I knew she wanted me to sit down. While I watched, mouth open in surprise, Mum took off her hat and coat and gave them to me to hold. She walked quietly to the small room by the lift and took out a wet mop (拖把). She pushed the mop past the desk and as the nurse looked up, Mum nodded and said, “Very dirty floors.”
“Yes, I'm glad they've finally decided to clean them,” the nurse answered. She looked at Mum strangely and said, “But aren't you working late?”
Mum just pushed harder, each swipe of the mop taking her farther and farther down the hall. I watched until she was out of sight and the nurse had turned back to writing in the big book.
After a long time Mum came back. Her eyes were shining. She quickly put the mop back and took my hand. As we turned to go out of the door, Mum nodded politely to the nurse and said, “Thank you.”
Outside, Mum told me, “Dagma is fine. No fever. ”
“You see her, Mum?”
“Of course. I told her about the hospital rules, and she will not expect us until tomorrow. Dad will stop worrying as well. It's a fine hospital. But the floors! A mop is no good. You need a brush. ”

What's your opinion about finding good friends Speaking from my past experience, it is very difficult to find good friends that you can trust but once you have found them,
they are worth keeping forever! Therefore, I think friendship is the most important relationship that anybody could have.
The qualities I look for in a friend are a good sense of humor and sensitivity. A friend would have to be strong minded and highly spirited. I think that these qualities are the key qualities to look for in a good friend.
Even the best friends can still have arguments between themselves, though usually about more serious topics, rather than the usual childish arguments. Some matters can seriously affect friendship. If one of your friends started experimenting with harmful and dangerous drugs, what would you do A good friend would try to help as much as possible, while a bad example of a friend would simply shrug and turn a blind eye.
Not only the bad things affect friendship — good activities do too, such as bonding with one another, not just by going out on a night with them, but by spending quality time with them and talking to each other. This is a key aspect of a good friendship.
Good friends do not always have to be in the same age group as you. I have a good friend and she is 47 years old and I am 16.
Unfortunately, some people lose contact with their friends as they grow older, which is a sad way to lose a good friend.
I think friendship is one of the most important things in life because if you have no friends you will have no happiness.
